We recently connected with Semira Sawyer and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Semira with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I get my work ethic from my mother. Growing up with a single mom, I watched her create a life built on independence, consistency, and resilience. She made sure I always had everything I needed not just materially, but emotionally and mentally too.
My mom owns her own recruiting company, where she specializes in placing civil engineers in federal roles. From as early as I can remember, I’ve never seen her work for anyone but herself. She built her business from the ground up while raising me, and that example shaped my entire mindset as an entrepreneur.
Her decision to start her own company was rooted in wanting to be present she didn’t want to hand me off to daycare at three months old, so she created a way to provide and still be there. Watching her do that taught me that entrepreneurship isn’t just about freedom or flexibility; it’s about purpose, ownership, and building something that allows you to design your own life. That’s the same drive that fuels me today

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m Mira a 9-year veteran in the world of digital marketing, PR, and content creation. My career started in the entertainment industry, where I worked as a red carpet correspondent and later as an associate producer for national commercial campaigns with brands like Jimmy John’s, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Buffalo Wild Wings. I even had the opportunity to host on a friend’s podcast featured on iHeartRadio, which really sparked my love for storytelling and connecting with audiences.
In 2020, I took a leap of faith and launched Mira Mira On Air LLC, a digital marketing agency that helps small to mid-sized businesses grow and scale across multiple platforms. What started as a creative outlet quickly evolved into a full-fledged agency rooted in strategy, authenticity, and innovation.
What excites me most about what I do is seeing an idea come to life from those first brainstorming sessions to the final activation. There’s nothing like watching a campaign you’ve nurtured make an impact in the real world. At Mira Mira On Air, we pride ourselves on being results-driven and relationship-focused. We don’t just chase trends we create thoughtful, data-informed strategies that make brands stand out and connect with their audiences in meaningful ways.
Right now, we’re expanding our reach with more brand collaborations and creative activations across the U.S., and we’re continuing to help businesses refine their digital presence with fresh, forward-thinking marketing strategies. At the end of the day, we just love what we do and I think that passion shows in every project we touch

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, I’d say the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are resilience, overcoming imposter syndrome, and understanding that not all money is good money.
Resilience has been the foundation of everything. Entrepreneurship and especially the creative industry can be unpredictable. There have been highs that feel like wins of a lifetime, and there have been moments that tested my confidence and patience. But each challenge taught me how to bounce back stronger, adapt quickly, and keep moving forward even when things didn’t go as planned.
The second quality is learning not to let imposter syndrome hold me back from opportunities I’ve earned. There have been so many times where I found myself in rooms filled with CEOs, influencers, and even millionaires and for a moment, I questioned whether I belonged there. But I’ve learned to silence that doubt and remind myself that I’m in the room for a reason. The work, experience, and effort that got me there speaks for itself.
Lastly, realizing that not all money is good money has been a huge lesson. When you’re building a business, it’s easy to want to take on every opportunity that comes your way, but sometimes the wrong partnership or project can cost you more than it pays. Learning to say no and trusting that the right opportunities will align with your values has been a big part of my growth as an entrepreneur.
For those who are early in their journey, my advice is simple: just start. Don’t wait until next week. Don’t wait until you have the perfect camera, the best software, or the ideal setup. Start with what you have, where you are, and improve along the way. As a recovering perfectionist, I’ve had to learn that perfection can be the enemy of progress. Everything doesn’t have to be perfect to be powerful.
And finally, always remain a student of your craft. You never know everything and the moment you think you do, you stop growing. Stay curious, take courses, seek mentorship, and be open to feedback. The more you invest in learning, the more confident and capable you become in building something that lasts.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes, absolutely! Mira Mira On Air is always open to new collaborations and partnerships. Collaboration is at the heart of what we do it’s how creative ideas evolve into powerful campaigns that truly move people.
We’re especially interested in connecting with individuals and brands within the entertainment and hospitality industries that includes event coordinators, producers, A&Rs, hotel general managers, restaurant owners, and small business leaders who are ready to elevate their digital presence. Our agency thrives on helping businesses in these spaces grow their visibility, connect with their audiences, and build an authentic online identity through strategy-driven marketing and creative storytelling.
That said, we’ve also had amazing partnerships in other industries like real estate and fitness (from kickboxing studios to yoga brands). We’re always open to fresh ideas and unique collaborations that align with our mission helping brands scale with intention, creativity, and results.
