We recently connected with Sergio Castillo and have shared our conversation below.
Sergio, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
Keeping my creativity alive was something i struggled with for a while. I would have periods in my life where i felt so unproductive, I just wanted to runaway from the responsibility of creating art, it felt like a chore i lied to myself to love. I do truly love art, I feel useless when I’m not creating, and that was the mindset i had to kill. The self brutality was hurting my creativity and production, so i came to an acceptance and just put the brush down, I told myself to just live life! It did wonders for me creatively and mentally, it was such a breathe of fresh air to not have this duty of art floating in my head 24/7, i was still thinking of art of course, i just would not punish myself for not creating as a robot. And during this time i had many new streams of inspiration coming in from work, friends, relationships, books, movies, and a abundance of media and moments in my personal life.
The take away from this is to step back and look at the bigger picture.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Honestly right now i been stagnate professionally, I’ve been focusing on my work and school life and that’s been my priority as of right now
But to tell about my personal brand Koncepts is really a personal perspective on myself and what art can be. Envision Koncepts as my own personal art gallery, rather than a brand. My main inspiration behind Koncepts was top not have any walls/boarders to fit into, true creative freedom, what feels right has a space here in Koncepts from 2d, sculpture, music, clothes, writing, ect.
what ever is bred from creativity has a home in Koncepts
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Resilience, Discipline, Honesty, these traits can take you where ever you need when you are pursuing your passions. Be honest to yourself on where you’re at and to your peers in general. and stay disciplined to keep working during hard times, when your plan feels like its slipping away. that is where the victory lies
How can folks who want to work with you connect?
Yes i would love to collaborate and see what people can bring out of me that i would have never seen and vice versa. People who don’t see limits on what they can do, who are open to everything, and are extremely passionate about they do/create. When these type of people come together, there is literally no way to gauge the possibilities on what they can create
