We were lucky to catch up with Sergio Gaitan Md Faad recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Sergio , thank you so much for agreeing to open up about a sensitive and personal topic like being fired or laid-off. Unfortunately, there has been a rise in layoffs recently and so your insight and experience with overcoming being let go is relevant to so many in the community.

Whenever you are faced with a challenge it is just an opportunity to show what you are made of.

I had been with a Dermatology practice for a long time and decided to leave for a new practice in order to grow my true passion of Cosmetic Dermatology. After being at the new practice for a few months I was laid off. At that time, I knew that I wanted to give my patients a best-in-class experience. I realized that in order to do that, I would have to create my own practice. So with the help of my wife, a registered nurse, we worked together to open our own self-pay Dermatology and Laser Office. It’s been over a year since we opened our premier Dermatology and Laser Center in my hometown of Miami, FL and I am extremely proud of the quality of care and results we are consistently delivering. We feature the latest in laser treatments and this allows patients to get the best-in-class dermatology care at our location. Our primary focus is painless and no downtime skin rejuvenation.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I am a Cosmetic Dermatologist that specializes in Laser Treatments. We are located in Miami, FL. My true passion is skin rejuvenation. What is exciting is we are just at the surface of what Laser technology can do. Using my engineering background, I have been able to develop these exclusive laser protocols that help our patients stay forever young. The best part of my job is seeing the glow in my patients when they come back after a treatment with their newfound confidence. Since opening our doors at Certified Cosmetics and Skin Care, we are most proud of developing an exclusive protocol that can painlessly lift the skin. Our Laser Lift with Microneedling is really a game changer and our patients have been loving the results.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I think the most important qualities to have when developing is accountability, attention to detail, and empathy. The accountability is driven by a constant desire to improve. I always say I am my biggest critic as continued improvement is part of growth. For instance, when we first developed our Laser Lift with Microneedling protocol we got nice results. However, my engineering mind kept saying make it better. Now we are seeing even better results. Attention to detail is extremely important in my field as a Cosmetic Dermatologist. By paying attention to the most minute details, we are able to give each one of our patient’s individualized results. Lastly, all these skills would mean nothing without empathy. At the end of the day, I am a physician first and I am here to make the lives of my patients better. For folks early in their journey on how they can develop and improve these, it all starts with accountability. For me I wanted to be the Best Cosmetic Dermatologist I could be and so that is what drives me to always keep working, innovating, and creating better treatments for my patients.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was teach me the importance of caring. They were always loving and there for my brother and I. I always hear people say they came from nothing when they say they are self-made. However, the loving support my parents gave to me while growing up was worth more than any money. That is what is great about being a Dermatologist; I can provide care and support for all my patients.
