Meet Sergio Novoa

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sergio Novoa a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Sergio, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

I developed my confidence and self-esteem by looking back at every hardship I’ve had and recognize I managed to move forward. I realized “hardships” are just markers along the way that allow me to recommit to my goals.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m a stand up comic who shares his day-to-day experiences as an immigrant, gay, latino navigating the world. I get to take the good, bad and the ugly I’ve experienced and I get to share it with audiences. The great thing about my story is that I’m the only who can tell it best.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Everything I’ve done in my life has let me to the this moment, I just needed to allow the scared parts of me to be free. I needed to get rid of all the brainwashing and allow myself the freedom to be myself. I used to be a fitness instructor, so I was used to speaking in front of a bunch of strangers. The difference is that now I can make them laugh.

What’s been one of your main areas of growth this year?

My biggest area of growth in the past 12 months is knowing that everything will play out as it’s supposed to. I will get every opportunity that is meant to be mine.
