Meet Seth Clark

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Seth Clark. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Seth , we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I don’t think we’re ever 100% certain of our purpose, but I believe that when something deeply resonates with you, it’s worth pursuing. If it brings you fulfillment and a sense of meaning, that’s a strong sign to take it and run with it.

From a young age, I found myself in the role of a listener and a support system for others. Since middle school, my friends often came to me with their problems, and I would do my best to help them through whatever they were facing. They usually felt better after talking, but what stood out to me was how fulfilling it felt to be there for others. That sense of purpose led me to consider a career in therapy, but while I never formally pursued it, I continued to be the person people turned to—friends, acquaintances, even strangers who needed someone to listen.

Years passed, and I found myself drawn back to art, something I had always loved. Tattooing captivated me—the industry, the culture, the ability to create something lasting and meaningful. I went all in, completed my apprenticeship, and became a tattoo artist.

What I didn’t expect was how seamlessly my two passions—art and helping people—would come together. Tattooing became more than just an art form; it became a form of therapy. Through my work, I’ve had deeply meaningful sessions with clients—some breaking down in tears as they release emotions they’ve carried for years, others finding solace in the permanence of a piece that symbolizes their healing. Some of these clients have even become lifelong friends.

Now, with Tattoo Therapy™️, I get to do both: I help people heal, whether through the ink itself or simply by creating a space where they feel safe, seen, and heard. And to me, that feels like purpose.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

My name is Seth Clark, and I am a trauma-informed tattoo artist specializing in fineline blackwork, black and grey, and neo-traditional styles. I work at **Nobility Tattoo in Austintown, Ohio and am a part of Tattoo Therapy™️, where I focus on the healing benefits of tattooing.

Having faced my own challenges, I understand that getting a tattoo often carries a deeper meaning—whether it’s healing from trauma, memorializing a loved one, celebrating a milestone, or reclaiming confidence. Tattoos can serve as a powerful form of self-expression, a way to feel comfortable in one’s own skin, or even a substitute for self-harm. The process itself, from the pain to the experience of being seen and heard, can be deeply therapeutic.

My goal is to create a space where people feel safe, understood, and supported. Every tattoo I create is more than just a design. It’s a reflection of someone’s story, a moment in their journey. Whether it’s a symbol of healing, growth, or self-expression, I want my work to leave people feeling stronger than when they walked in.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

For those early in their journey, my biggest piece of advice is to embrace the process and remain open to growth. Resilience, adaptability, and artistic dedication aren’t developed overnight—they are built through experience, challenges, and the willingness to keep pushing forward.

Resilience comes from understanding that setbacks are part of the journey. Whether it’s struggling to master a technique, facing rejection, or dealing with self-doubt, the key is to keep going. Every challenge is an opportunity to learn, and persistence is what separates those who succeed from those who give up too soon. Surround yourself with mentors, seek constructive feedback, and remember that growth often happens in the moments of struggle.

Adaptability is just as important, especially in creative industries. Trends change, clients come with unique needs, and no two experiences will be the same. The best way to develop adaptability is to stay curious and open-minded—whether that means learning new techniques, listening to different perspectives, or being willing to step outside of your comfort zone. Flexibility in both your craft and mindset will allow you to evolve and improve over time.

Finally, artistic dedication is what will set you apart. No matter how naturally talented you are, true mastery comes from consistent practice and an ongoing commitment to learning. Study your craft relentlessly, experiment with different styles, and never stop pushing yourself to improve. But beyond technical skill, remember why you started—your art has the power to tell stories, evoke emotions, and even help others heal. Stay passionate, stay patient, and most importantly, stay true to your vision.

The journey will never be linear, but by cultivating these skills, you’ll build a foundation that will sustain you for years to come.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

Throughout my journey, my mentor, Dennis Boseman has been instrumental in helping me overcome challenges and develop the essential skills and knowledge to be successful. As a founder of Tattoo Therapy™️, Dennis has not only guided me in refining my craft but has also shaped my understanding of the deeper emotional and psychological impact that tattooing can have.

From the start, Dennis emphasized that tattooing is more than just putting ink on skin it’s about connection, healing, and creating a safe space for people to express themselves. His mentorship helped me see how my work could bridge my love for art with my passion for supporting others on their healing journeys. He taught me the importance of intention, presence, and adaptability, ensuring that every session is a meaningful experience for my clients.

Beyond technical skills, his guidance has helped me navigate the emotional weight that often comes with this work, teaching me how to hold space for clients while also maintaining my own well-being. His knowledge, experience, and unwavering support have shaped not just my career, but the way I approach my work and the relationships I build with my clients.

I am incredibly grateful for the lessons he has shared, and I strive to carry forward the same level of care, professionalism, and dedication that he has instilled in me. His mentorship has reinforced that tattooing, at its best, is a transformative and healing experience something I will continue to honor in my own practice.
