Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Seth Daniels. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Seth, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
For me, a good work ethic is cyclical. My inspiration is borne of a drive to create works of functional art, quality products. This inspiration drives me to continually practice and perfect my craft. That drive pushes me to work as efficiently and perfectly as I can, until the job is done and I’ve achieved that quality piece. When the product is perfected I am inspired to continue creating and the process begins again. And thankfully has never stopped.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
As co-founder, chief leathersmith and creator of our many grooming products and fragrances it has been the high point of my life to have been supported enough by our loyal customers to make a career of my hobbies. There is nothing more special to me than that support and appreciation.
Though a close second would be the good we’ve been able to do as a company for wildlife preservation. As self-proclaimed Ambassadors of Florida we try our best to promote and support the preserving of the natural beauty of our home state. Through monthly donations and consistent new products that raise awareness we feel honored to be a small part of keeping Florida as wild and beautiful as possible.
With new product launches every month, many of which are part of our donation collection, we are able to continually offer not only donations but fresh new awareness and insight about wildlife and parks-related matters that need as much support as possible.
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
I’d say the three most important aspects of our journey have been the honing of our crafts, knowing our target audience and finding the right people to work with and for us.
The best advice I can give would be to never stop learning. Not just about what you do or make, but everything else as well. Learn your audience, what they like how they think, what they need. Along with learning what, thereafter, the needs of your company are. What strengths your team must have to best serve your customers and keep your machine well-oiled. And never stop doing so because there will always be a next step. A new plateau.
Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
For me personally the most helpful person has been my business partner. Without him I doubt any of this would have come to pass. Our business relationship is symbiotic. In that he possesses the knowledge and skills that I lack. He is the brains, I am the hands. And I think knowing yourself well enough to find help where you need it is just as important as mastering your own craft.
