Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Seth Forman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Seth, thank you so much for joining us. You are such a positive person and it’s something we really admire and so we wanted to start by asking you where you think your optimism comes from?
Optimism is a product of knowing that success will occur with hard work, accepting failure and trying again. Optimism is also a product of knowing that success may require a change in strategy.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Currently, I am a practicing Dermatologist and Medical Clinical Researcher. I also happen to invest and redevelop office space into Class A property. At this time, we have around 80,000 of Class A (Medical, Legal, Engineering, Management, etc.) in North Tampa. I walk the properties personally in the morning and pull weeds, pick up trash and notice areas for improvement. My properties are within one mile of my primary residence. And, my ownership of these properties is well known to my neighbors, patients and others in the community. The newest tenants are neighbors of mine. Theref0re, I take great pride in developing and maintaining the office complexes. The complexes and the tenants are an extension of my personal community.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
The following three qualities are most important:
Desire. Industry. Resilience.
Success starts with desire. Industry is required to work towards a desire. Resilience, the ability to remain in the game even when the unexpected occurs, is the finisher.
What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents taught me that no education is wasted. I have a number of educational experiences which do not obviously contribute to practicing, medicine, performing clinical research or developing real estate. For instance, I was an English Major in college and I also have a Masters in Fine Arts in Screenwriting. I cannot tell anyone that these degrees have contributed to my success. I have no data to support that it has resulted in the current outcomes.
But, we also believe no education is wasted. We have instilled that in our children. We support a number of educational institutions.
