We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Seyeong Ji a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Seyeong, appreciate you making time for us and sharing your wisdom with the community. So many of us go through similar pain points throughout our journeys and so hearing about how others overcame obstacles can be helpful. One of those struggles is keeping creativity alive despite all the stresses, challenges and problems we might be dealing with. How do you keep your creativity alive?
I try to keep my creativity alive in my daily life, like a lyric of songs, what I’m looking for from my view side, and even the incense i always burn before I sleep. I’m overthinking, and my brain never stops thinking in my head. I always believe in connected step-by-step, even unsystematic, from the way I feel in my head. Every day inspires me even when i watch social media, and i try to catch up to remember a moment that inspires me. These are what i do try to keep my creativity alive every single day. All things for me come from little things in my life.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I always imagine my daily life, the mood in the weather, the landscape on the road, the day’s sounds around me, or my routine for sending a day every day. I love personal stories, even little tiny things I do daily. These can inspire me, and I believe these way to focus professionally on connecting my thoughts and the art to the audience watching. I’m painting through “About incense and perfume” as the title for my next artwork. There is nothing here to complete words not yet, but I’m painting abstractly on canvas from one quote for my word based on “The smell of an incense filled the room, and I can see this movement, and I called that is one shape of love like you.”
There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
When I remind myself of the past, the most impactful in my journey should be relationships, imagination, and infinite thought. These three situations affected me, from getting hurt to developing myself. That mindset connects all of my values and appears mainly in my work. One of the habits that was good or bad for me was being too much thought from all of it about my journey. Sometimes, it can bring inspiration or solutions for still-blank answers to my personal questions. However, I experienced that it can hurt me, even my ego, with no respectful mind for everything. I’m still going live and accepting myself for who I am now. It can be an excellent knowledge start when I understand and accept myself. This mind can best develop or improve from many variable qualities, skills, and areas of knowledge because one of the immutable things is never changing for who I am around a variable world. Objectification can be an art from start to end.
Looking back over the past 12 months or so, what do you think has been your biggest area of improvement or growth?
Over the past 12 months, I have felt many emotions and thoughts about human relationships, and these feelings come from situations that give me a chance for growth and improvement in my life. I usually get inspiration from my experience, and I try to remind myself of my past to be forceful. I was in a lot of emotions for more than two years. I spent time digesting longing and sadness, understanding my ego and values instead, feeling close happiness in my life, imagining my future, and staying present without any confusion. Trust me, I wish to grow and find infinite love for me around and around. I feel that I’m not enough to show my words, thoughts, and emotions till now, but this experience makes me give what will be the most priority order in my life and think about what I want to be with the lapse of time. After these situations, I got a great quote: “All things started from love will be finished by love.”
