Meet Shae Coon

We recently connected with Shae Coon and have shared our conversation below.

Shae, we’ve been so fortunate to work with so many incredible folks and one common thread we have seen is that those who have built amazing lives for themselves are also often the folks who are most generous. Where do you think your generosity comes from?

It’s as simple as how I was raised. We weren’t well off but wanted for nothing because our parents taught us that there are people out there who need help, and we aren’t just to sit around waiting for someone to do something about it. We need to be that someone.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Currently, my focus is revisiting and improving old manuscripts. Over the last couple of years, I have learned so much more than I knew before I started publishing my work, and with this new knowledge, it’s necessary to re-evaluate my work and adapt accordingly.

At the same time, I am building my publishing co-op to reach more writers in need of our services but cannot afford an editor or cover designer and are at a loss for how to navigate the publishing world.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Be patient, open-minded, and humble.
It is a hard, tedious, and sometimes hair-pulling journey. Take the time to do your research and watch as many DIY videos as possible to help you achieve your publishing goal. And never hesitate to ask for help.

Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?

Author Penelope Sky’s work inspired me to finally publish my work after I read her Buttons and Lace series.
From there, author GM Katz and ARC reader Jessica Hughes have been my biggest literary support system. Whether it be editing my manuscripts, inspiring my cover designs, or giving me the strength and sometimes the kick in the pants to keep going.
