Meet Shaidy Gomez

We recently connected with Shaidy Gomez and have shared our conversation below.

Shaidy , so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.

My confidence didn’t come overnight. It came through prayer, healing, and learning to fully accept the woman God created me to be. There was a time I questioned my worth, my voice, and even my calling. But the more I poured into others—through my work and my service—the more I realized how much power there is in just showing up as yourself. I’ve learned that confidence doesn’t mean being loud or perfect—it means walking in purpose and grace, even when you feel unqualified. I built confidence by choosing to show up every day with humility, knowing that everything I have is a gift from above, and that I’m simply stewarding it to serve others.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

I’m a professional makeup artist with over 13 years of experience, and my journey started in a very humble, heartfelt way. Back in high school, I never had the chance to go to prom, homecoming, or any of the big dances—but I always found joy in helping my friends get ready for them. I would do their makeup just for fun, and I remember how good it felt to see them light up when they saw themselves in the mirror. Their moms started to notice my work, and before I knew it, they were hiring me and recommending me to their friends. That’s how it all began, a young girl with a brush and a heart full of passion.

Today, I’ve been blessed to turn that passion into a thriving career. What makes my work truly special is that it’s never been just about makeup. It’s about transformation—inside and out. It’s about helping women feel confident, beautiful, and seen.

But what fuels me the most is using this gift to serve others. I created Grace & Glow, an organization that brings free beauty services and words of hope and faith to women in domestic violence shelters, homeless women, and teens. My dream is to turn it into a nonprofit one day so that we can continue to grow and reach more women with love, compassion, and grace.

Most recently, I launched Crowned in Strength, a movement that celebrates the resilience of women who have walked through incredibly hard things and still rise with strength and grace. Each month, we choose a woman to receive a full makeover—professional makeup, hair services, and a photoshoot—and we give her story a spotlight. We share her journey publicly in hopes of bringing hope to other women who may be facing the same battles. It’s not just about making her feel beautiful, it’s about reminding her—and others—that she isn’t alone, and that her story matters.

Through all of this, I just try to use the talent I was given to pour back into my community in a way that uplifts, encourages and inspires. My work is my ministry—it’s where beauty meets purpose..

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

*Grace, because you’ll need it—for yourself and for others. Life doesn’t always go as planned, but grace allows you to keep going with softness and strength.

*Resilience, because you will fall, and you will get back up. It’s not about perfection, it’s about the bounce back.

*Faith, because when the doors close, the path seems foggy, or you feel like giving up, faith is what will carry you through.

What would you advise – going all in on your strengths or investing on areas where you aren’t as strong to be more well-rounded?

I believe your strengths are where your purpose lies. Go all in. Pour into them. Refine them. Let them lead you. But I also think it’s wise to be aware of your blind spots, not to dwell on them, but to grow in the areas that support your calling. For me, my strength is in connection and creativity, but I’ve had to grow in structure, discipline, and confidence in speaking up. You don’t need to be everything to everyone but you do need to be the best version of you.
