Meet Shaina Renee

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shaina Renee. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shaina below.

Shaina , so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?

When I find myself as the only one in the room who looks like me, I remind myself that my presence is intentional and purposeful. I focus on the value I bring to the table and let that guide my confidence. To remain effective and successful, I commit to being prepared, staying open to learning from others, and embracing every challenge as an opportunity for growth. It’s also important for me to build a strong support network outside of those spaces, which keeps me grounded and reminds me that I’m not alone in my journey. My goal is always to use my voice, break barriers, and inspire others to do the same.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m Shaina Renee, a serial entrepreneur with a strong foundation in business and hospitality management, and I’m currently pursuing a doctorate. I am the founder of The Model Knowledge Group, a creative agency focused on producing transformative fashion and empowerment events, and SRSL Consulting, a financial firm where I help individuals and businesses access the resources they need to thrive. Additionally, I founded Discovering Her Purpose a global women’s ministry centered on faith, empowerment, and purpose, providing a community where women can deepen their relationship with God and grow holistically.

My education in business and hospitality management, combined with my entrepreneurial experience, fuels my passion for empowering women, particularly women of color, to break barriers and step into their purpose. Through my work, I create spaces for innovation, creativity, and connection. Events like our Fashion Week productions and women’s empowerment conferences allow me to inspire and equip women to achieve their fullest potential.

Currently, I’m working on expanding my impact, with plans for a major Fashion Week event in February 2025 and a Power Pitch Tour focused on real estate. I am committed to building a legacy of empowerment, education, and opportunity, and I’m passionate about continuing this work on a global scale.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are faith, resilience, and a strong commitment to learning. Faith has been my foundation, giving me the strength to trust the process even when the path wasn’t clear. It keeps me grounded and reminds me that everything I do has a greater purpose. Resilience has helped me push through challenges, even in moments when giving up felt like the easiest option. Lastly, a commitment to learning—whether it’s gaining new skills, seeking mentorship, or staying curious—has been key to my growth and success.

For those early in their journey, my advice is to start with faith—trust in your vision, stay connected to your purpose, and believe that everything happens in divine timing. Build resilience by focusing on your “why” and letting it fuel you when challenges arise. Finally, never stop learning—invest in your personal and professional development, surround yourself with people who inspire you, and always seek guidance. Growth is a continuous process, and with faith as your foundation, these qualities will help you navigate your path with strength and confidence.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?

Yes, we are always looking to collaborate with brands, celebrities, and influencers, especially for our annual fashion shows hosted by my creative agency The Model Knowledge Group (TMKG)! We’re interested in partnering with innovative and empowering brands, as well as celebrities who align with our mission of creating transformative experiences in fashion and women’s empowerment. Additionally, if you’re a woman who wants to learn how to become financially free and break generational cycles, joining my DHP community would be ideal for you. It’s a space where women come together to grow in faith, purpose, and financial empowerment.
