Meet Shakeyla Randall

We were lucky to catch up with Shakeyla Randall recently and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Shakeyla , really happy you were able to join us today and we’re looking forward to sharing your story and insights with our readers. Let’s start with the heart of it all – purpose. How did you find your purpose?

I discovered my purpose through a deep connection with God and by understanding my unique gifts. My passion for children ignited long before I became a parent myself, and writing my children’s book became a profound journey for me. It was more than just becoming an author; it was a heartfelt mission to remind not only my kids but all children that their worth isn’t defined by their mistakes. This message serves as a beacon of hope and encouragement, guiding young minds to embrace their potential.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

As a children’s book author and an upcoming creator of a cartoon series, my work revolves around nurturing imagination and instilling valuable life lessons in young minds. What excites me most is the opportunity to create stories that resonate with children and remind them of their worth, especially as a mother of three toddlers who inspire my creativity daily. Each project is a chance to connect with kids through engaging narratives and vibrant characters. I’m thrilled to announce that I’m expanding my brand by launching a cartoon series that will bring my stories to life in an even more dynamic way. I can’t wait to share this journey with everyone and continue to inspire children through both books and animation!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

Reflecting on my journey to becoming an author and discovering my purpose, three qualities that stood out were resilience, creativity, and a genuine passion for storytelling. Resilience helped me navigate challenges, whether facing writer’s block or self-doubt. Creativity allowed me to craft unique narratives that resonate with children, while my passion for storytelling fueled my dedication to connect with young readers.

For those early in their journey, my advice is to cultivate resilience by embracing setbacks as learning experiences rather than obstacles. Foster your creativity by exploring different styles and genres, allowing your ideas to flow freely without judgment. Finally, stay connected to your passion—whether through reading widely or engaging with your audience—because that enthusiasm will shine through in your work and inspire others.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

My women’s ministry group. By constantly pushing me to be everything God has called me to be, speaking life into me and the consistent support.
