We were lucky to catch up with Shakira Scott recently and have shared our conversation below.
Shakira, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.
Throughout school, I was always chasing ideas. I tried selling socks, clothes, making music, even selling glasses on Instagram. Every little hustle taught me something — whether it was how to deal with customers, how to manage time, or how to create value from nothing. Some things made me quick money, others flopped completely. But I kept going because deep down I knew I wasn’t meant to just clock in and out for somebody else. I wanted freedom. I wanted to create something bigger than myself. It wasn’t until I flipped my first house and made that $100K that it all started clicking — I wasn’t just good at business, I was meant to teach others how to do it too. Helping people build something real for themselves became my passion. That’s when purpose met profit. Looking back, I needed all those “failed” ideas to get here. Every single one was a stepping stone. So if you’re still figuring it out — keep trying things. Your purpose will meet you while you’re in motion, not while you’re standing still.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
whether that’s through real estate, entrepreneurship, or building credit and income online. I’m a 7-figure entrepreneur, investor, and mentor, and I teach people how to flip houses, grow their brands, and make real money using the skills and resources they already have.
What’s special about what I do is that I didn’t come from a family with connections or a bunch of money. I just had drive and the willingness to learn. I flipped my first house at 20, made six figures, and haven’t looked back since. Now, I use my story to show people what’s really possible when you stop playing small. I’m not just talking about business — I’m talking about building freedom, building wealth, and breaking cycles.
The most exciting part? Seeing my students win. Watching someone go from confused and stuck to closing their first deal, launching a course, getting leads every day — that’s the real flex for me.
I’m also in expansion mode right now. I just launched a new digital course called Flipping 101: The Path to Profit, which walks beginners step-by-step through how to successfully flip houses and build a real estate business from scratch. I also run a mentorship community called The Wealth Circle, where we focus on daily strategies, monthly trainings, and keeping each other accountable to the bigger goals.
Everything I create is designed to help people take action, take control, and take off. Because once I figured out how to make it work for me, I made it my mission to help other people do the same — just faster and with fewer mistakes.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, the three biggest things that helped me get where I am today were:
Resilience – I failed so many times before anything took off. Businesses flopped, sales didn’t come in, people doubted me — but I never stopped trying. I always tell people: failure isn’t the opposite of success, it’s part of the process. If you can bounce back, you can win.
Self-education – I didn’t wait on a degree or a mentor to hand me the game. I invested in ebooks, watched videos, took online courses, Googled everything, and made mistakes until I figured it out. If you’re early in your journey, treat learning like your full-time job — the knowledge is out there, but it’s up to you to apply it.
Marketing + confidence – I realized early on that you can have the best product or service, but if nobody knows about it, it doesn’t matter. I taught myself how to show up online, build a brand, speak with authority, and market myself — even before I felt 100% ready. That confidence came with time and repetition.
My advice to anyone just starting out:
Stay committed to the long game.
Get comfortable being uncomfortable.
And don’t wait until you feel “ready” to show up — start with what you have and let the results build your confidence.
You don’t have to have it all figured out — just start, stay consistent, and be willing to grow through the process.

Is there a particular challenge you are currently facing?
The biggest challenge I’m facing right now is honestly letting go of doing everything myself. I’ve always been that person who just figures it out, wears all the hats, and gets it done — but as my brand and my student base grow, that’s no longer sustainable.
I’m in the process of expanding my team so I can deliver a better experience for my students and protect my own peace and time. That means hiring help for admin tasks, onboarding assistants, bringing in content support, and building systems that don’t rely on me for every single thing.
It’s not easy, especially when you’re used to doing it all — but I know that growth requires delegation. I’m learning to trust others, train them properly, and focus more on being the visionary instead of staying stuck in the day-to-day.
What’s helping me is being clear on what only I can do vs. what can be handed off, and then taking the leap to actually let go. The goal isn’t just to work harder — it’s to build something that works even when I’m not glued to my laptop.
