We were lucky to catch up with SHALEV ALON recently and have shared our conversation below.
SHALEV, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
My work ethic comes from a combination of my upbringing and the journey I took to build a career in the music industry.
I grew up in a small farming town in Israel, where my parents worked long days growing peppers and dates. Watching them taught me early on that nothing succeeds without consistency, discipline, and showing up every single day whether it’s easy or not. That mindset became the foundation of how I approach my work today.
When I moved to Los Angeles at 23, I didn’t know anyone and had to build everything from the ground up. Studying at Musicians Institute, working on my craft for hours a day, sending out countless emails, and taking every opportunity big or small taught me resilience. Getting accepted into Remote Control Productions after months of trials showed me how dedication and persistence open doors.
Working with world-class professionals like Hans Zimmer, Henry Jackman, Nick Jonas , and others further shaped my work ethic. They taught me that staying in the room requires professionalism, preparation, humility, and a genuine passion for the music.
Whether I’m mixing for Marvel or Disney, or helping an independent artist bring their first project to life, I carry the same philosophy:
Work as hard on someone’s music as they worked to create it. Be reliable. Be professional. Leave ego out of the process. Care deeply.
My work ethic is ultimately rooted in where I come from and what I believe:
If you love what you do and consistently outwork the person you were yesterday, success becomes a natural outcome not the goal.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
My name is Shalev Alon, and I’m a Score Mixing Engineer specializing in music for video games, films, and TV productions. Over the years I’ve had the privilege of mixing music for companies like Disney, Marvel, Warner Bros., and Netflix, as well as working on iconic projects such as Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Marvel’s Avengers Campus, and many more.
What I Do
My job is to take a composer’s musical vision and translate it into a cinematic, emotional, and polished experience. I work on everything from full orchestral scores to highly creative sound worlds that blend electronics, soloists, percussion, and choir.
My role doesn’t just end at mixing:
I also edit the music, prepare the sessions, refine the details, consult on the creative intent, and make sure the final delivery matches all technical specifications for film or game integration.
It’s an extremely intimate and collaborative process composers trust me with their art, and I treat every project like it’s my own.
What’s most special to me is that I get to merge two things I love:
music and storytelling.
Mixing a score isn’t just a technical task it’s an emotional translation. Every scene, every moment, every hit point needs to feel exactly right. I love shaping the sonic world of a film or game, pushing the emotional impact, and helping the composer move the audience in ways they may not even be consciously aware of.
Another thing that excites me is working at the intersection of creativity and technology.
Whether it’s handling massive orchestral sessions, building efficient templates, recording large ensembles, or mixing in immersive formats I enjoy the challenge of always learning, adapting, and staying ahead of the curve.
I grew up in a small farming town in Israel. My parents were farmers, and that upbringing taught me the value of discipline, work ethic, and persistence at a very young age.
Later, moving to Los Angeles and working my way into studios like Remote Control Productions (Hans Zimmer’s studios) shaped my professional identity. I learned what it means to “stay in the room” to be on time, to be a good hang, to be professional, and to constantly deliver excellence.
Those lessons influence every mix I touch today.
What Sets My Brand Apart
I believe the thing that sets me apart is care.
I care deeply about my clients, their vision, and their emotional intention. I’m transparent, ego-free, and fully collaborative. Whether it’s a AAA video game or an independent film, I show up with the same passion every time.
My brand is built on a simple idea:
There’s no such thing as a ‘big’ or ‘small’ client only music that deserves to be treated at the highest level.
Right now, I’m focusing on:
Expanding my work in the video game industry, especially large-scale orchestral and hybrid game scores
Growing educational opportunities through lectures, masterclasses, and speaking events
Continuing to collaborate with international composers and studios
Building long-term creative relationships with artists who want their music treated with precision and respect
I’ve also recently been giving lectures where I break down real AAA film sessions, teach practical industry skills, and talk openly about the business side of working with developers and studios.
Recently i have been working on all major film and showes upcoming trailers like : Tron: Ares, Star Wars: Visions, The Kiss Of The Spider-women and many more..

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Persistence
Nothing in my path happened overnight.
From moving to Los Angeles with almost no connections, to studying nonstop, to finally workin in the biggest studies in LA. Every step required showing up again and again, even when there was no guarantee that something would happen.
How to develop it:
Start with small, consistent habits. Send one email a day, practice one hour a day, or study one new skill every week. Persistence isn’t about big dramatic moments it’s the accumulation of simple actions over long periods of time.
Working in music especially film and game music means constantly facing new tools, new styles, new expectations, and new deadlines. I learned early on that if you stay adaptable, you stay valuable.
At Disney Imagineering, I didn’t always know every piece of gear or software, but I knew I could learn fast. That mindset helped me survive and eventually succeed.
How to develop it:
Instead of being intimidated by not knowing something, treat it as an invitation to learn.
Pick one area mixing, orchestration, game audio delivery, business communication and get 1% better every week. Over a year, that compounds into something real.
3. Care & Professionalism
This is the one that people underestimate the most.
My clients trust me with their art sometimes their life’s work and caring deeply about their vision is the foundation of my career. Being a good collaborator, being on time, communicating clearly, and treating every project like it matters that’s what keeps relationships alive.
Don’t wait for the “big break.”
The moment someone pays you for your creativity even a small project you’ve already made it. Build from there. Show up consistently, be kind, be curious, and always remind yourself why you started. When your passion is genuine, people feel it, and opportunities tend to find you.

What is the number one obstacle or challenge you are currently facing and what are you doing to try to resolve or overcome this challenge?
As my career has grown, the volume of projects and the variety of opportunities have increased. It’s an amazing place to be, but it also means I have to be extremely intentional about how I manage my time, my energy, and my workflow. I never want to compromise the care I put into each project, because that’s the foundation of my entire brand.
How I’m overcoming it:
Refining my workflow and templates so I can move faster without sacrificing detail
Expanding my network of trusted collaborators for situations where additional support is needed
Becoming more strategic with scheduling so I don’t overload my weeks
Continuing to communicate openly with clients, setting expectations early and making sure every timeline is realistic
At the end of the day, my goal is not just to grow it’s to grow in a healthy way that allows me to keep delivering the best possible mixes, keep enjoying the creative process, and keep building meaningful, long-term relationships.
