We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shanbri’ Cade. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shanbri’ below.
Hi Shanbri’, so excited to talk about all sorts of important topics with you today. The first one we want to jump into is about being the only one in the room – for some that’s being the only person of color or the only non-native English speaker or the only non-MBA, etc Can you talk to us about how you have managed to be successful even when you were the only one in the room that looked like you?
I learned through healthy and positive self image, awareness of my worth, awareness of my value, and confidence in my identity. As a Christian, my foundation is that we were all fearfully and wonderfully created- uniquely. Growing up, I was shy, quiet, and timid but as I matured, I learned to embrace all that embodies who I am. In that, I learned how to effectively show up and out into the world through positive self image. Having an understanding that I am an asset, I am valuable, and I was created to occupy specific spaces because I am needed, fuels my confidence and success. I do not subscribe to the narratives and opinions of others, I control my narrative by remembering that I was created with purpose and called to rooms on purpose. We are most effective and successful through healthy self image and true self through confidence.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I’m the owner of Haute Couture Creative Studio, where creativity meets craftsmanship. As an event planner, I take immense pride in bringing my client’s vision to life—whether it’s through custom-built decor, stunning centerpieces, or elaborate backdrops. I’m passionate about getting my hands dirty and diving deep into the creative process to ensure every event is as unique and memorable as the people it celebrates.
I graduated in 2014 from Indiana University with an education in Tourism, Conventions, & Event Management. In 2018, I began designing photoshoot sets, which led me to the world of creative direction. By 2021, I was published as a set designer, and in 2022, I expanded my role to include creative direction, continuing to shape bold and inspiring visual experiences.
Creativity is where I thrive. While navigating complex ideas and visions can be a challenge, it’s a challenge I absolutely love. There’s no greater joy than transforming spaces into something extraordinary and creating experiences that leave a lasting impact. Professionally, I continue to focus on making my mark in the world of event design and photography.
In addition to events and photography, I am 41-year-old writer dedicated to being the best version of myself while sharing my wisdom and musings as it pertains to life, self-esteem, and self-improvement! In 2021, I released the first volume of my ebook series, 38 Lessons in 38 Years, followed by volume 2 in 2022.
In 2024, I released the “Dear Self” Affirmation Journal, a daily journal for your everyday thoughts, prayers, and feelings. Because life stays life’n! This isn’t your normal journal, space to affirm and remind yourself of your uniqueness is provided throughout the book. I designed three layouts: The Soft Life Style was designed with soft palettes for my soft era girlies, The Neutral Style is for those who appreciate calmness, and The Minimal Style with masculine palettes for my guys- inclusivity was important so I had to cater to you as well! My goal is to continuously motivate you to be good to yourself by maintaining a positive self-image & encourage you to make room for your life to grow.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
My relationship with Christ, my deep understanding of self worth and identity, and resilience were most impactful in my journey.
My advice to those early in their journey is to discover your identity and nurture your strengths, capacities, and potential. Surround yourself with community to aid in the development of yourself. The right people and resources are essential in leading you to your destiny. No one is self- made and we all need support- community matters.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?
My faith and community has been most helpful in overcoming challenges and being successful. I’m intentional about being aligned with my beliefs and about who I allow into my life. I only divulge plans, goals, and dreams to my trusted community. I’m encamped with kindred spirits and like-minded people. With my community comes accountability, inspiration, motivation, and unwavering support.
