Meet Shane Labuschagne

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shane Labuschagne. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Shane, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?

I believe my resilience was forged early in life on the playing field and in the ring, where every bout—whether in kickboxing or rugby—was both a test of strength and character. Competing at a high level, I learned that setbacks were not failures, but essential opportunities to learn, adapt, and overcome. That same resilient spirit was further refined when I ventured into business. Launching and running a high-performance center in South Africa required constant innovation and persistence; every obstacle became a chance to improve not just the program but myself as a leader. Later, guiding multi-million-dollar renovations and innovative programming in private clubs demanded strategic thinking, team-building, and the relentless pursuit of excellence. Each experience deepened my conviction that resilience isn’t just something you’re born with—it’s something you develop through embracing challenges, learning from setbacks, and continuously pushing forward, no matter how steep the climb may be.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Execufy is a dynamic networking and professional development platform designed specifically for hospitality and private club professionals. I founded Execufy because when I entered this industry, I struggled to navigate its complexities and saw the need for a comprehensive resource to help others grow and succeed.

One of our most exciting upcoming components is Club Hubs. Club Hubs is an innovative internal social network that allows clubs to share multimedia images, documents, videos, and more—much like Facebook or Instagram—enabling seamless communication across all departments. This platform not only gives management a real-time pulse on organizational culture, but also creates an environment where collaboration and engagement are ongoing. It offers clubs a private space to connect internally while also providing access to a broader network for joining educational masterminds and professional groups.

Our mission at Execufy is simple: empower every professional in the industry with the tools, connections, and opportunities they need to thrive, ensuring that all staff feel informed, valued, and a part of a thriving community.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Reflecting on my journey, I believe the three most impactful qualities that have propelled me forward are:

1. An Appetite for Reading and Learning:
I’ve always been an avid reader, constantly seeking new ideas and perspectives. This commitment to lifelong learning has enabled me to stay ahead in a fast-paced industry and adapt to evolving challenges. For anyone starting out, I recommend immersing yourself in a broad range of subjects—whether through books, podcasts, or industry articles—to build a solid foundation of knowledge that continuously evolves.

2. High Energy and Tenacity:
My high energy and relentless drive to never stop have been crucial in overcoming obstacles. This tenacity pushes me to take on challenges, keep moving forward even when things get tough, and continuously strive for better. My advice is to set clear goals, maintain a positive mindset, and remember that persistence is key. Consistently pushing yourself outside your comfort zone is how real growth happens.

3. Genuine Care for People:
Caring for the people around me—colleagues, mentors, and team members—has been equally important. Building strong relationships and genuinely investing in others’ success creates a supportive network where everyone benefits. For those early in their journey, focus on developing empathy and effective communication. Ensure you contribute to a collaborative environment where everyone feels seen and heard; the lasting impact of your care can boost morale and foster collective success.

These three qualities—curiosity, determination, and compassion—are not only my personal pillars but also crucial for anyone looking to build a lasting career in any industry. By nurturing these traits, you create a foundation for continuous personal and professional growth.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

Yes, we are absolutely looking to collaborate with individuals and businesses aligned with our mission at Execufy. Specifically, we’re seeking partnerships with goods and services providers in the hospitality and private club sector, as well as coaches, mentors, and professional development organizations.

Our goal is to give these partners a platform where they can connect directly with decision-makers across the industry, while also contributing to a broader ecosystem of trust, learning, and growth. Whether you’re offering innovative solutions, educational resources, or consulting services, Execufy is the space where your voice can be heard and your impact can be amplified.

The hospitality and private club sector has always been incredibly generous in sharing ideas, best practices, and support—and I believe now is our time to take that spirit even further. By collaborating, we can raise the standard for what’s possible in this industry.

If you’re passionate about shaping the future of hospitality, we’d love to connect. You can reach out to us directly via LinkedIn or through our website at www.execufy.io. Let’s grow the industry together. Or email me at Shane@execufy.ai
