Meet Shanee Byerson

We were lucky to catch up with Shanee Byerson recently and have shared our conversation below.

Shanee , thanks so much for taking the time to share your insights and lessons with us today. We’re particularly interested in hearing about how you became such a resilient person. Where do you get your resilience from?

Honestly I don’t know! I’ve had to be resilient my whole life. I grew up in a time where child hood trauma was a thing and the way pain was swept under a rug at the young age of nine resilient me was born.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

Here’s a revised version that incorporates your experiences and conveys your strength and resilience:

In a world where challenges often define us, I’ve turned my trials into triumphs. As a traveling braider and a proud single mother, my journey began as a teenage domestic violence survivor and teen mom. I faced the unimaginable, including time in prison, but through sheer determination and resilience, I transformed my life.

After navigating the complexities of being a wife and embracing a second chance at motherhood, I launched my hair business over a decade ago. Today, I stand as a testament to the power of perseverance. Life has changed, and while my marriage has ended, my entrepreneurial spirit has only grown stronger. I’ve expanded my horizons into content creation and hosting events that uplift my community.

I’m excited for this new chapter of my life and the adventures that await me and my three children. Together, we’re embracing the journey ahead, ready to inspire others and give back in meaningful ways.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

1.Resilience
2.Freedom
3. Creativity

By focusing on resilience, creativity, and freedom, anyone can navigate their journey with confidence and purpose. Remember, every step you take brings you closer to your goals, and your experiences can inspire others along the way.

Alright so to wrap up, who deserves credit for helping you overcome challenges or build some of the essential skills you’ve needed?

The most helpful force in my journey has undoubtedly been my children. They are my anchors, guiding me through every storm and reminding me of the strength I possess. I consciously parent my sons, striving to create an environment that contrasts sharply with the childhood I experienced. I want them to feel safe, loved, and valued, and that commitment has become a powerful motivator for me.

Even on my darkest days, their unwavering love and support have lifted me. It’s incredible to think that despite my struggles, they still choose to see me and embrace me. My son, whom I had when I was just 16, offers a unique perspective; he recognizes the journey I’ve taken and the growth we’ve both experienced.

Their presence in my life has taught me resilience, empathy, and the importance of nurturing relationships. They inspire me to keep moving forward, and in doing so, they help me develop the essential skills and qualities I need to succeed. What more could I want than the love and understanding of my children? They are not just my motivation; they are my greatest teachers.
