Meet Shanell Camp

We were lucky to catch up with Shanell Camp recently and have shared our conversation below.

Shanell, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?

I avoid burnout simply by honoring the Sabbath and resting one a day week, particularly Sundays.

On my rest day I literally do nothing besides shower, eat, and watch tv (which is something I love to do.)

In doing this I am able to decompress, clear my mind, and mentally prepare for what’s next.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

My name is Shanell and I am from Norfolk, Va. Initially my brand was supposed to be a nail polish brand BUT after months of sampling and testing different nail polishes I couldn’t find what I was looking for and a random thought to sell pressons came into my mind and I ran with it!

At ShadedbyShanell, we envision a world where beauty is effortless, confidence is instant, and self-care is a daily practice. Through expertly crafted press-on nails, nourishing nail care, personalized coaching, and curated style inspiration, we empower women to embrace beauty on their own terms—quickly, flawlessly, and with the perfect look to match.

We are most proud to be one of the only presson nail brands that curates different looks to inspire women to find their own unique style and looks and pair it with their favorite nails as a way to expresses their inner beauty. We believe all women should feel beautiful and a set of ShadedbyShanell pressons can be the accessory to get them started.

Lastly, we are launching virtual 1:1 presson nail application sessions this September where I’ll be teaching women everything they need to know about pressons. These sessions are perfect for beginners and|or women who are interested in presson nails but don’t know where to start.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Consistency, confidence, and faith have been the most impactful on my journey.

For folks who are early in their journey a few ways to develop or improve on these is to write down your agenda|to-do list, whether it be daily, weekly, or monthly and ensure you keep track of your completions|accomplishments. This will help develop|increase consistency and confidence.

In order to increase your faith it’s essential to trust God and just do whatever you’re called to do even if you aren’t sure it’s the right thing. Take risks and know something will work eventually as long as you remain confident and consistent and don’t give up. Take the next step even if you can’t see where it’s leading you. Life is a risk so make the most of it. Trust and believe God.

How would you spend the next decade if you somehow knew that it was your last?

If I knew I only had a decade of life left, I would spend that decade doing what I’m doing now – trying to fulfill my purpose and leaving an everlasting impression on the lives of the people I’ve had the pleasure of encountering and doing life with.

I would continue to ensure most of my day is dedicated to helping others and utilizing my gifts to uplift others and make a difference in their lives.
