Shanequa , looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

My work ethic is deeply rooted in the hard work and dedication I observed in my parents as they provided for our family. Starting work at a young age of 14, first at the church summer camp and then at local pharmacy as a cashier, I learned the value of self-reliance and determination. Becoming a young parent myself only reinforced my drive to provide for my family independently. The lessons of perseverance and resilience passed down from my parents continue to inspire me to pursue my goals with unwavering commitment and strive for excellence in all that I do.

As the owner of Smooth Tax Solutions LLC and Co-Founder of Mind Your Assets Tax School, I am excited to share some insights about my business and our upcoming launches. My firm is based in the heart of Birmingham, Alabama, I have been a part of the tax industry for a decade, transitioning to full-time entrepreneurship seven years ago. Alongside managing my businesses, I am also a proud mother of three.

Our commitment is to provide clients with expert advice, professionalism, responsiveness, and most importantly, peace of mind when they trust us with their financial matters.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back on my journey, I believe the three most impactful qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that have been crucial to my success are patience, transparency, and research skills.

1. **Patience**: Patience is key in any endeavor as success rarely happens overnight. It’s important to set realistic expectations, keep a long-term perspective, and stay committed to your goals despite setbacks and challenges. My advice for those starting out is to cultivate patience by understanding that progress takes time and consistent effort. Focus on small wins along the way to stay motivated and celebrate your achievements no matter how small.

2. **Transparency**: In any field, but especially in sectors that require trust and credibility like mine, transparency is essential. Being open, honest, and clear in your communications with clients, partners, and colleagues helps build trust and credibility. My advice for newcomers is to prioritize transparency in all interactions. Be upfront about your capabilities, limitations, and intentions. Transparency fosters strong relationships and sets a solid foundation for long-term success.

3. **Research Skills**: Research is a fundamental skill that has been invaluable on my journey. Whether it’s understanding market trends, analyzing competitors, or staying informed about industry developments, research provides the knowledge and insights needed to make informed decisions. My advice for rising entrepreneurs is to do their research skills by staying curious, seeking out diverse sources of information, and critically evaluating data. Continuous learning and adapting based on research findings is key to staying ahead in a dynamic business environment.

In terms of advice for rising entrepreneurs, I would emphasize the importance of developing good habits early on. Consistent effort and dedication to personal and professional growth are key to long-term success. Stay proactive, be prepared to adapt to changing circumstances, and always be open to learning from both successes and failures. Remember, success is a journey, not a destination, so stay focused, stay resilient, and stay ready for whatever challenges come your way.
