We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shannon Bonardy. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shannon below.
Hi Shannon, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?
I have to give that credit to my parents. I am one of four children and my parents are immigrants. My parents did not have college degrees, they worked blue collar jobs (sometimes overnight shifts). They did what they could with whatever they had for our family. When I look back and see what my parents made possible or see what was impossible, I know I have to keep up the momentum and go further for my own family.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m a Hard of Hearing mother of two toddlers and Momber with Mother Forward. I started sharing my motherhood experience because I believe there are unique challenges and triumphs that come with being a Hard of Hearing mom that may not be common knowledge. As a HoH mom, I’ve navigated a variety of obstacles, from communication challenges to social isolation. I’ve also discovered incredible strengths and strategies that have helped me thrive. By sharing my story, I hope to offer support and encouragement to other HoH mothers, while also raising awareness about the unique experiences of this community. I’m looking forward to the new year for more speaker opportunities, whether in person or on podcasts.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three qualities that were most impactful for me have been: resilience, integrity, and authenticity. Stay true to who you are and your values. When you are true to yourself and your story, things will always work out in your best interest, even if it doesn’t seem that way while you’re going through it!

Alright, so before we go we want to ask you to take a moment to reflect and share what you think you would do if you somehow knew you only had a decade of life left?
Learning to “bloom where I am planted”. Things may not be ideal at work or at home or mentally/emotionally but I’ve been having to sit with myself and my thoughts and feelings in these moment to really reflect on what is the lesson within all the struggle. It can be difficult to look within and really pick apart things and unpack trauma.
