We were lucky to catch up with Shannon McFaul recently and have shared our conversation below.
Shannon, thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
As a creative in the digital landscape of graphic design and social media management, it’s important for me to unplug as well. Keeping my creativity alive appears in various ways in my life whether it’s reading a new book, sketching with pencil and paper, or trying new artistic methods. Although my business is within the digital realm, being able to be creative outside of that is just as important. I love to create art hands on, and alter it digitally with tools through Adobe and other creative spaces! I also enjoy challenging myself to adapt new skills such as macrame, drawing, and sculpting.
Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Clover Studio officially launched in 2023, yet I’ve dabbled in creative work since I was 16 years old. I offer a variety of graphic design services such as email design, logos, branding, business cards, apparel design, and more! Clover Studio’s shining star is social media management, and is the most popular service. Social media management is a newer industry, and an exciting one! I love being able to help businesses grow through their social media platforms, and also take the weight of that off their shoulders! Social media is changing daily, and I’m thrilled to assist my clients in moving forward in the digital landscape.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
As a social media manager that is constantly researching and evolving due to social media and the algorithm changing all the time – adaptability has been a strong skill of mine! Strengthen this skill by always learning and educating yourself on new topics within your industry.
Networking and being a strong leader also have allowed me to grow a reputation within my community as well. Connecting with other business owners has been so impactful in growing a supportive community, and also long-lasting friendships. My biggest piece of advice to strengthen these networking and skills and having a strong presence in your community is to just take the leap! Find groups and events within your community to help get your name out there, and to also discover mutual business owners where you can grow alongside each other.
Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal clients are small businesses with the goal of growing a strong community on their digital platforms. As a social media manager my goal is not to make you go viral, but to nurture and strengthen your community that you deserve! They’re someone who isn’t afraid to show their individual personality online, and have fun with social media. It’s important to remember that clients follow you to learn more about you and your business. If they wanted to see cookie-cutter content, they’ll follow big name brands!
