We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shannon McNiece, LPC, LAC. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shannon below.
Shannon, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience has grown out of a combination of my lived experiences and my mindset choices.
My journey has not been an easy one. The adage “what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger” really rings true in my life. When I look back at the road traveled, it’s full of pitfalls, wrong turns, and dead ends. There were plenty of bumps, bruises, and injuries sustained along the way.
Adversity is a refiner’s fire – IF that’s how you choose to see it. Struggles can enrich you, develop you, and help you to see the world through a new lens. Challenges are opportunities for growth if you can reflect on your failures, extract the lessons, and use them as stepping stones for self-improvement.
OR adversity can just be “the suck” if you don’t attune yourself to the deeper lessons. If you don’t look for a growth edge, you won’t find it. Perspective is everything, and I’ve always tried to orient myself to the growth perspective.
When you go through really hard times, really bring-you-to-your-knees kind of hard times, you become more resilient at your core. Now, that doesn’t mean that hard times won’t shake you again. Life certainly has a way of throwing curve balls. But, with true inner strength and resilience, the storms do become easier to weather.
A proactive approach to facing life’s challenges comes from how you choose to see your struggles. Are they here to teach you, improve you, strengthen you, and enhance your life? Or are they here to be endured, and muscled through? It is a powerful mindset shift.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
What I do – I help clients access a sustainable and fully actualized state of aligned clarity, joy, and integrated well-being.
What does that mean? I help people step into the fullness of who they are meant to be.
Neuro-coaching is an approach that integrates principles from neuroscience into coaching methodologies. It leverages our understanding of how the brain works so that my clients can truly shine like never before.
The work is about becoming the best version of yourself – to live the life you’re meant to live, to make the biggest impact you were meant for, to leave the legacy you were meant for. No half-measures. This work is deeply transformative. It’s about diving in fully and completely to live your fullest, most aligned, most lit from within life.
What I’m focused on professionally –
Well, I’m pretty enamored with this big vision I have. I see neuro-health as the next great frontier and the preeminent catalyst for deep personal expansion.
Furthermore, the overlay of neuro-psych, holistic health, human potential, spirituality, and positive psychology is an absolute sweet spot for me (and my clients). Integrated brains equal integrated well-being and happy lives.
What’s most special about this –
The Holistic Brain-Based Approach is a whole new way of engaging personal growth. A way that gets results, that sticks, and a way that feels supremely expansive, and uplifting.
What sets me apart is that I am pioneering the first luxury holistic neuro-health transformation brand. Nobody else is approaching change the way I am. Brain-life optimization is a new model for the 21st century. It’s a very exciting time for me and my clients.
Neuroplastic change is a beautiful, inevitable opportunity. And I am beyond thrilled to share this with my clients in such a profound and meaningful way.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Resilience. Perseverance. Adaptability.
Personal adversity builds character. Professional adversity brings opportunity. Resilience, perseverance, and adaptability have pushed me to overcome challenges, stay focused on growth, and ride the wave of never-ending adjustments and the shifting sands of circumstance.
Resilience – developing your personal growth edges – expansion and the ability to bounce back from failures. Building yourself up and being your own cheerleader. Developing your coping strategies to sail over any hurdle on your path. Growing a strong mind from within.
Perseverance – Stick-to-it-iveness. Just-keep-going-no-matter-what-ness. I-can-do-this self-efficacy. Cultivating mental discipline and a strong work ethic. Maintaining focus on achievable, realistic goals while simultaneously holding big, expansive visions and dreams.
Adaptability – Not getting stuck and not allowing yourself to fall stagnant. Cultivating curiosity, and watering it rigorously. Being a life-long learner. Acquiring new skills, being open to change, and maintaining a growth mindset. Embracing the unknown as a great teacher.
For those early on their journey, I’d encourage you to invest heavily in yourself. Invest in your mind. You’ll never go wrong with this approach.
Learn from your setbacks. Approach every challenge as an opportunity. Stay committed to yourself even if everything around you does not seem to be working out the way you had hoped. Remain open, and flexible to new ideas, approaches, or information. And go seek out fortuitous circumstances; there’s always something awesome waiting around the next corner – go find it and harness it.
Who is your ideal client or what sort of characteristics would make someone an ideal client for you?
My clients are seeking their Highest Love, Truth, and Light. My clients seek to harness their minds, optimize their outcomes, achieve more, feel better, and stretch further. They want true freedom, deep transformation, and true abundance.
They’re High Achieving and super successful. They’re goal-oriented, with clear objectives and an unstoppable drive. They are highly focused on their aspirations. They have the outward indicators of success. They are already killing it in their professional spheres, and they want more.
My clients Prioritize Growth. They view their personal and professional development as a top priority and have a strong desire for continuous self-improvement. They value access to expertise: They recognize the value of specialized knowledge and guidance.
They’re highly Self-Aware. They understand their strengths and weaknesses. They’re insightful, probing, and curious about themselves and the world around them.
My clients have incredible personalities; they’re Supercool human beings. They’re conscientious, generous, caring, and highly intelligent.
My ideal clients are Ready. They’re ready to invest in themselves with the same zeal they bring to other areas of their lives. They’re seeking significant shifts. They’re ready to accelerate hypergrowth. They’re ready to bring their full intention and attention to this work. They’re accountable to the process and take responsibility for their progress.
