We recently connected with Shannon-nicole Pring and have shared our conversation below.
Shannon-Nicole, we’re thrilled to have you sharing your thoughts and lessons with our community. So, for folks who are at a stage in their life or career where they are trying to be more resilient, can you share where you get your resilience from?
My resilience stems from a deep drive to succeed beyond my trials and errors. Growing up, I witnessed the hardships my immigrant grandmother and parents endured to make it to the States. Their perseverance inspired me to break free from the expectations of a ‘traditional’ life and define my own legacy.
Resilience, to me, is key—whether exploring new ventures or trying new hobbies. Without facing failure head-on, there is no success.
Ultimately, my resilience comes from my experiences and the ability to rely on myself. At the end of the day, no one has you like you have yourself. You’re the one who gets yourself out of bed, nourishes your body, and listens to its needs. The same strength is what lifts you back up when you fall.
Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hi! My name is Shannon Pring, and I am an AAPI Digital + UGC Creator, social media manager, and editorial freelancer. UGC stands for ‘User-Generated Content,’ and I primarily specialize in producing organic creatives for businesses and brands to post on their social media accounts. I also help manage their online presence, which includes copywriting, aesthetic page layout, and implementing a personalized, innovative system that prioritizes engagement and reach with their unique audiences.
In addition, I provide professional proofreading and editorial services to fiction authors in the Young Adult/Romance genre. As a bookworm with a hopelessly romantic persona, I’ve always thoroughly enjoyed collaborating with talented writers—whether they’re working on their first novel or are already published authors. I assist them with a range of needs, including correcting grammatical and punctuation errors, refining character development, enhancing plot structure, ensuring narrative flow, and providing constructive ‘tough love’ feedback throughout the process.
I’m proud to say that I’ve always been tech-savvy, even as a little girl. Growing up during the rise of YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram it inspired me to pursue a less traditional, yet creatively fulfilling career path. With that in mind, being chronically online as a full-time job is truly a dream come true for my younger self!
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three qualities that have had the biggest impact on me are:
First, an eagerness to learn—constantly, and endlessly. About my craft, the world around me, and even the ideas that stretch beyond my own imagination. I have an insatiable curiosity, always asking questions, and always looking past what’s expected. Probably more than most of my peers, to the point where I can be a bit annoying with my random thoughts. But honestly? I’ve grown to love that about myself. It’s made me intellectually versatile, someone who knows a little about everything.
Second, a resolute mindset. It’s different from persistence—more about being completely self-driven. No outside influence is pushing me forward; I just know what I want, and I chase it with everything I’ve got. Once I set my mind to something, I’m locked in until I make it happen.
And finally, adaptability. If you’re in a competitive space, being able to navigate challenges, think on your feet, and find creative solutions is crucial. You have to know how to get yourself out of tough spots and turn obstacles into opportunities. The ones who thrive aren’t necessarily the most talented—they’re the ones who know how to adjust and keep going.
The biggest thing that has helped me build on these qualities? A solid, supportive community. Having people who genuinely uplift and challenge you makes all the difference. It pushes you to grow faster, sharpen your skills, and stay grounded. You really are a reflection of the people you surround yourself with.
And just as important? Cutting out anything that holds you back. It’s easier said than done, but at the end of the day, the desire to grow has to come from within. You can’t reach your full potential if you’re stuck in spaces that don’t serve you.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
Without a doubt—my partner, Garrett. We’ve been navigating our 20s together ever since I met him at 19, and to say we’ve taken separate journeys wouldn’t be true. He has stood beside me, unwavering, despite carving out his own legacy, hand in hand through every high and low, every victory and failure. He is my absolute rock, and I don’t think I would be nearly as creatively driven if it weren’t for him pushing me beyond my little secluded & coddling comfort bubble.
When I’m feeling uninspired, burnt out, overwhelmed, or on the verge of throwing in the towel, he’s the one who brings me back to reality—the voice that reminds me my wildest, most audacious dreams are within reach. No matter the unexpected twists or obstacles life throws our way, we are, in every sense, a ‘dream team.’ His relentless work ethic and determination to succeed drive me just as much as I hope mine do for him.
If I had to describe him in three words: Tenacious, Industrious, and absolutely Ineffable. His generosity with his time—especially when it comes to me—knows no bounds. He gives his all to ensure I have a seat at the table, surrounded by the people we love, being celebrated right beside him. With him, I’m never left behind, and I couldn’t be more grateful.
Have you ever met someone who is a workaholic to their core, someone who never truly takes a break, yet somehow, in the best way possible? That’s him. And through him, I’ve learned the value of persistence, of showing up, of never giving up too soon.
Every skill I’ve honed, every strength I’ve built upon since the beginning of my career and young adult life, I owe in part to him—my biggest inspiration. Beyond how much I love him simply as my partner, that love fuels my deepest hope: that every day, in some way, I make him proud.
