We recently connected with Shannon Yeager and have shared our conversation below.
Shannon, so good to have you with us today. We’ve always been impressed with folks who have a very clear sense of purpose and so maybe we can jump right in and talk about how you found your purpose?
Throughout high school and college, I experienced anxiety as I constantly strove to achieve more. One day, I woke up feeling numb and tingly in my hands. I found out I had been hyperventilating due to stress. It was here that my wellness journey began. I started attending weekly yoga classes and learning different types of breathwork. Eventually the blanket of anxiety lifted and I realized the power of calming the nervous system. I was inspired to complete my 200-hour yoga teacher training in 2015 and 300-hour training in 2017 and have enjoyed offering wellness classes and sound baths to the San Diego community.
After my daughter was born, I experienced the beauty, exhaustion and overwhelm that comes with motherhood. I learned new techniques for deep rest (like yoga nidra) and started listening to my intuition to reconnect to my purpose. I felt called to work with moms to guide them through their own journey of nervous system regulation and transformation. The practices and tools I use to coach moms are the same tools that have helped me find purpose, joy and freedom.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
As an intuitive wellness coach, I am passionate about helping people break through barriers, let go of fears and take action on their dreams.
I’ve felt burnout and exhaustion from spreading myself too thin. I’ve been at a crossroads professionally and decided to take a new path forward. I know what it feels like to experience a lightbulb moment that reignites the spark of passion and creativity. It all starts with nervous system regulation.
Each coaching “cocoon” includes a mindfulness practice to get out of “fight or flight” mode. From this place of calm, I use coaching to help you envision new possibilities for your life and build forward momentum. I tailor every session to your unique needs, meet you where you are in your journey, and celebrate you every step of the way. I offer virtual one-on-one and group sessions. I also host in-person wellness events in San Diego, which often include yoga, sound healing and Reiki for inner healing.
I am honored to have helped clients shift into fulfilling careers, build new businesses, volunteer at non-profit organizations, reconnect with loved ones and create a supportive community.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Resilience, curiosity and authenticity are three qualities that have guided me throughout my journey as a wellness coach. I believe that unexpected challenges are an opportunity for learning and growth — whether healing from a physical injury, navigating a change in career, or finding balance during motherhood.
When the path ahead is unclear, I sit in stillness and get curious about what comes next. I focus on self-care and the activities that bring me joy. I connect with mentors and coaches, share my authentic experience, and create a safe space for others to be vulnerable. I am grateful to teach the tools I use to react more calmly and recover faster from setbacks to others on their own journey of wellbeing and expansion.
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
As a new mom and business owner, I know what it feels like to balance many roles while running on little sleep. There are days when my brain feels like it’s moving a hundred miles an hour and my to-do list only gets longer. On those days, it is even more important to slow down my thoughts and replenish my energy.
Some of my favorite techniques include box breathing, meditating while sipping coffee, or taking off my shoes and socks and walking barefoot on the earth. Even though it may seem counterintuitive, taking the time to fill up your cup will help you be more productive, focused and grounded when life gets busy. If you have a full calendar, you can add mindfulness practices into just about any activity you already have planned, like cooking, driving, or responding to an email.
Having a variety of tools you can draw from in overwhelming situations allows you to be more patient and energized throughout the day. When I work with clients, we incorporate mindfulness techniques and somatic practices throughout the sessions to find the methods that resonate with you.
