Meet Shanny Erwin

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shanny Erwin. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Shanny, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

I found my purpose through constant trial and error. I’ve had an idea of my purpose but never fully understood how much power I had until I was put in positions to showcase it. I’ve seen overtime my influence on others especially when doing things for others, seeing how they react makes me happy and I feel complete. Being in this industry, it can be hard to trust because there can be many people who aren’t as genuine but what I learned is being kind and true to you, will take you a long way. Walking in love supersedes everything.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

My name is Shanny Erwin and I’m the owner of S.Slay Agency Talent Management and Creative Service company that is geared towards individuals in the creative spaces in music, film or fashion. It has been running now for an over a year. Being that is fairly new, I’m working on expanding my network which will open more opportunities and resources for the independent talents that need it to continue to thrive in the entertainment industry. Also, I’m a financial advisor for a company called Global Financial Impact aka GFI. This company is absolutely amazing with focus on helping families secure their futures and investments while being able to make a difference in their lives. Choosing to be a blessing will have its reward. Im a mom of two boys and recently I’ve become an author. I’ve recently a children’s book called “Because I love you” which is available on Amazon and Barnes & Nobles as will as other digital platforms. The book is centered around my oldest baby who was born prematurely. He tells his side of the story of all that he went through while fighting to come home in a baby tone. This book is based on a true story. I plan on doing a part 2 which will be from my side speaking on the challenges and difficulties of becoming a nicu mommy while praying and fighting for my son to come home. With this project the goal will be to build a community for others like my son and I and offer support during such a difficult time. I’ve launched a new project called Preemieluv that you can find on facebook and Instagram. This will be geared towards the tiny but mighty warriors and their families by offer support, a community and resources. With everything else I’m doing, this right here is close to my heart.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Prayer, Faith, and Strength. All three of these are needed when navigating through uncharted waters because there will be many challenges that will come your way that doesn’t make any sense, and sometimes no matter how much logical or emotional competency you may have, that’s not always enough. Also, realizing human limitations and being ok to trust the Lord guidance. I would advise to put god first in all you do, always keep him first no matter what. I would also say keep pouring into your craft regardless if people support you or not. There will be times where it will feel overwhelming and confusing but that’s not a time to fall but to continue to stand. Everything starts with you. How you move will determine how it will work out in the end. Give yourself grace when it doesn’t go the way you want. Denial doesn’t necessarily mean no, sometimes it can mean a not yet. Be patient, and trust the process, have faith, be kind and always walk in love. Life is too short and none of this can go with us once we’re gone. How you was when you walked in this earth will be what lives on. How do you wanna be remembered? Ask yourself that and then fix whatever that needs to be fixed.

If you knew you only had a decade of life left, how would you spend that decade?

If I only had a decade to live I would live to the fullest and love to the fullest. I’d make sure that every second spent was intentional and with purpose. I would make sure that all my love ones are taking care of, I would make sure my children are set. I’d make sure that I be the person the lord made me to be. Pretty much continue what I’m doing now and live with no regrets. At the end of the day, none of this matters, who you were when you were alive and how you impactful you were to others around you is all that matters. Making core memories is all you have at the end of the day. So, I’d make the best of it.
