We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shanyeyah White a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Shanyeyah, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?
I feel that i definitely get my work ethic from being passionate about something. If i have a love for something specific I always work very hard to achieve said goal no matter how hard or difficult it is to achieve it.
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Hello my name is Shanyeyah White and i’m an Actress from San Diego California. I’ve been interested in acting since i was young, but i loved singing for as long as i could remember. My journey as an actress actually started with me singing because i’ve just been singing my whole life, but once i got to high school I started becoming involved with drama club and my love for acting grew from there and i knew that acting and singing is something i really wanted to do with my life in the long run. I love the whole concept of acting because it allows the actor to become thins whole different character and even someone opposite of who they are and transform and i love that I can do something like that.
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Three most important qualities, skills, and/or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in my journey as an actress is Patience, willingness to continue to learn, and drive. When it comes to me being an actress i’m going to hear a lot of “no’s” and i have to remember that i’m maybe not what a certain person is looking for when it comes to a role and that’s okay because when i continue to work hard that big break will definitely come! When it comes to willingness to learn one should always have that mindset to want to learn when it comes to something they are passionate about because when it comes down to it you can even teach someone else in the long run and just continuing to learn is always great. lastly having that drive is very important because when it’s something you love and want to do one should always make sure they love what they are doing and have that drive to keep going no matter what comes their way.
Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?
I would definitely say my friends and family. My friends and family say the right things to keep me moving and I love that i have friends that are involved in this industry as well because we connect and talk about different projects and and talk and connect when it comes to the good and the bad because we’re all in the same boat and have the love for the same thing.
