Meet Sharice Brown

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sharice Brown. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sharice below.

Hi Sharice, you’ve got such an interesting story, but before we jump into that, let’s first talk about a topic near and dear to us – generosity. We think success, happiness and wellbeing depends on authentic generosity and empathy and so we’d love to hear about how you become such a generous person – where do you think your generosity comes from?
Hands down, my grandparents! I can really say, I get my generosity from my entire family, but in all actuality, the generosity stems from my Mommom and Poppop. Wow, my heart just smile. As a kid, you don’t pay much attention to the characteristics and attributes of people closest to you, let alone yourself. In retrospect, I have always admired the adults in my family. They all had different specialities, but one similar trait, generosity. Whether big or small, my PopPops readiness to give was effortless, and unplanned. He lived to give. Almost like giving freed him of the lack he experienced growing up. One thing is for sure, I believe my grandparents moved as if they wanted to be examples for generations to come. And indeed they were. I learned many things from them both, but one of the best gifts passed down, is learning how to be generous with my heart, by giving freely.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
I am Sharice Lenay, but, I go by Ms. Mocktail! Ive governed that name over the last past four years. At every gathering, girls night, holiday party, or surprise visits to my home, someone is always asking me to make them a bev (I feel fancy abbreviating beverage) lol 9 times out of 10, I DO! I’ve been a content creator for a while now. Worked with a few brands, but mainly, created for my own businesses. I owed a bath and body product line back in 2021/22. Life happened, so I pivoted. The exciting thing about life is, just because one door closes, doesn’t mean three others won’t open. I am my brand, Creating Mocktails is my job, my art, my passion. I’ve made a conscious decision to cut alcohol from my diet, and want to inspire people to give it a try. Im not saying cut it completely. however, for me, I feel like giving up alcohol will guide closer to my higher self, and connect to a higher power., God . My Instagram and Tik Tok showcase delicious and creative recipes that I’ve come up with. I sometimes shock myself lol these drinks taste like alcohol is in them! I still enjoy the taste of certain alcohol, ie. tequila. Many people love tequila, but hate the hangover. So, I create mocktails with a tequila (and other zero-proof alcohol) alternative, so you can enjoy the experience, without the wooziness.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
First, and foremost, courage. To be cognitive with your mind and spirit is important, Courage takes you far in life, especially, when you feel you lack the strength God gave you. Your heart may feel pain, agony, and/or fear, but being able to muster up courage, speaks volumes. Secondly, emotional intelligence. This skill is valuable in every relationship, whether platonic, romantic, or work related, the ability to remain calm and collected under pressure, and not take out my personal frustrations on others is a soft skill I feel we need to practice more, and talk more about. Lastly, on this life journey, Ive acquired many many skills and I’ve vowed that, no matter what, I will always do my best. And by doing my best, I find It merely impossible to be dissatisfied by an unfavorable outcome. My advice to anyone reading, whatever art you create, and put forth, do your best. If no one likes it, that’s ok, because you still did your best.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?
To know me, is to know Im huge on self development. I am forever changing, however, my core values are solid. One of my favorite books to read/reread is “The Four Agreements” by Don Miguel Ruiz, I’ve read this book serval times. And I would highly recommend you get a hold of it. Read it in its entirety, and at different stages, in your life. You will see how these accordances speak differently to you each time you read it. Hence the forth agreement, Always Do Your Best.
