Meet Sharon Anderson

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Sharon Anderson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Sharon below.

Sharon, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

Reaching for the Stars

Growing up, my parents taught me the value of hard work and the power of aiming high. They always said, “If you reach for the trees, you’ll land in the mud. But if you reach for the stars, you’ll land in the trees” —so reach higher.”

That saying shaped everything about how I approach life and work. It taught me that effort and attitude matter just as much as results — and that aiming higher than you think you can go often takes you further than you ever imagined.

My parents also instilled in me a deep belief that work is important and valuable. They showed me by example that no job is beneath you, no challenge too big, and no day wasted if you’re learning something new. They taught me to keep learning, keep working, and keep growing.

Those lessons became the foundation for my journey as a HOTWORX owner. When I opened my first studio, I had to learn everything — from the business side to the technical details. I fixed systems, figured out building codes, and navigated things I never thought I’d understand (like social media–still learning). And when things got tough, that voice from my parents was always there: “Reach higher.”

Now, as the owner of two HOTWORX studios, I see every day what happens when people believe in themselves and put in the work. I see members reaching for their own “stars” — stronger, healthier versions of themselves — and I’m reminded that the climb is always worth it.

My positivity doesn’t come from things being easy; it comes from gratitude. Especially gratitude for not giving up on myself and knowing that eventually I will figure it out. From knowing that every challenge is a chance to grow and that hard work really does pay off. My parents were right — when you reach for the stars, you end up somewhere amazing.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

Owning two HOTWORX studios has been one of the most exciting, rewarding, and challenging adventures of my life. At HOTWORX, we offer a unique fitness experience — combining infrared heat, isometric workouts, and virtual instruction to help people get stronger, healthier, and more confident in less time. But what truly makes it special is the transformation that happens inside those saunas — both physically and emotionally.

What excites me most is watching people’s lives change. It’s not just about fitness; it’s about wellness and confidence. I’ve had a member tell me she no longer needs her Lupus medication, others who say their allergies have disappeared, and women who’ve shared that our saunas have helped reduce their menopausal symptoms like hot flashes and sleepless nights. These stories are just a few examples of how consistent infrared workouts can make such a real difference in people’s lives — and it’s incredibly fulfilling to witness.

As a business owner, I’ve learned that growth happens when you stay curious and never stop learning — lessons my parents instilled in me early on. They taught me that work is valuable, that learning never ends, and that if you reach for the stars, you’ll at least land in the trees — much higher than where you started. That mindset has carried me through every challenge and every success.

Our doors are always open to new members, and we invite every reader to come in and experience a FREE workout for themselves! We offer 12 different workouts — from hot yoga and Pilates to resistance training and HIIT — all designed to help you find your fire, feel your best, and connect with yourself.

At the end of the day, I love what I do because I get to help people feel good — inside and out.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three qualities that have had the biggest impact on my journey are work ethic, perseverance, and curiosity.

My work ethic comes directly from my parents. They not only taught me the value of hard work, but also showed me that it’s something to take pride in. When things get hard — and they always do when you’re building something meaningful — that foundation keeps me grounded and focused.

Perseverance has carried me through the moments when things didn’t go as planned. There were so many parts of opening my HOTWORX studios that I had to figure out on the fly — things like electrical work, building codes, and vendor management — but quitting was never an option. Every challenge taught me something new, and each obstacle built my confidence.

And curiosity has probably been my greatest teacher. I’ve learned that you can’t grow if you stop learning. Being open-minded, asking questions, and trying to understand things beyond your comfort zone is how you turn uncertainty into opportunity.

For anyone just starting out, my advice would be this: work hard, stay consistent, and stay curious. You don’t have to have everything figured out to begin — you just have to start. Keep learning, surround yourself with people who support and inspire you, and don’t be afraid to reach a little higher than you think you can. That’s where the real growth happens.

Before we go, any advice you can share with people who are feeling overwhelmed?

Feeling overwhelmed is something every business owner experiences, and I’m no exception. Between managing two studios, supporting my team, and taking care of our members, there are days when it all feels like a lot. Over time, I’ve learned that the key is not to avoid overwhelm but to manage it with intention.

One of the best ways I reset is by getting in the sauna myself. It’s amazing how just 30 minutes of infrared heat, quiet, and movement can clear my mind and bring me back to center. That time reminds me why I do what I do — it’s not just about helping others find balance, it’s about practicing it myself too.

Spending time with my husband, family, and grandkids also refreshes me in the best way. They remind me what really matters and fill my cup back up. I’ve learned to always make time for myself — because when I do, I show up better for everyone else.

My advice for anyone feeling overwhelmed is simple: pause, breathe, and prioritize. You don’t have to fix everything at once. Focus on what you can control right now and let the rest wait its turn. Take care of your body — move, sweat, rest, and refuel.

And maybe most importantly, give yourself grace. You can’t pour from an empty cup. Sometimes the best thing you can do for your business or your goals is to take a step back, reset, and come back stronger — even if that means hopping in the sauna for a good sweat and some peace.
