Meet Sharon Coleman

We recently connected with Sharon Coleman and have shared our conversation below.

Sharon, we’re thrilled to have you on our platform and we think there is so much folks can learn from you and your story. Something that matters deeply to us is living a life and leading a career filled with purpose and so let’s start by chatting about how you found your purpose.

How did I discover my purpose? I was uncertain about what my purpose entailed or who it was meant for. This led me to explore my parents’ backgrounds and upbringings. I needed to delve deep into how each of them was raised, reshape my understanding, and then start to find out who I was, who I had become, and who I was meant to be. My childhood was shaped by various influences, both positive and negative. While I don’t think the harmful influences were meant to motivate me, I absorbed traits from those around me. Sharing my life between my father and mother provided mixed influences. My mother’s life was chaotic and perilous, while my father’s was stable, honest, and what many would consider successful. This left me unsure of which influence was better. So, I experimented with both lifestyles. My mother’s way of life involved partying, drinking, smoking, engaging in illegal activities, and mingling with troubled individuals. Raised by her grandmother, she lacked a close bond with her mother and never knew her father. Despite these challenges, she was loving and kind, doing her best in her circumstances. In contrast, my father was nurtured by both parents who had spiritual foundations. My grandfather served as a bishop, and my grandmother was a first lady in a church in Curthersville, Missouri. My father was a diligent worker and a devoted family provider. He was quiet, affectionate, enjoyed solitude, but also friendly; he smoked once but quit and drank moderately in his youth before giving it up altogether. As I grew, I touched upon certain qualities and bad habits but soon realized I didn’t want to replicate the behaviors that distressed my parents. Hence, I knew I didn’t want to raise my children alone. I aimed to avoid drinking, drug use, and smoking due to health and mental concerns. Although I experimented with some of those negative habits, they only served to numb my feelings. I soon realized the importance of growing spiritually. Growing spiritually help me to make better choices for myself. I no longer used any substance to sedate myself so therefore I could think. learn not to fear, ask myself questions and answer those same questions from my heart. I took what was good from both parents and began to use those things to create me. Those things that were negative I didn’t carry the cycle nor repeat them. Some habits were hard to break but before finding my purpose I had to find what my purpose was not, grow closer to God and be lead. I soon realized that my talents were many and they were all attached to my purpose. My purpose required that I drop bad habits, and make good choices and decisions. My purpose also required that I was not selfish, but giving, loving, kind and considerate of others. However all the negative that came alone with my upbringing became a tool for me to use to help and inspire others. My talents are gifts from God. My purpose is to use my talents to live a fulfilled life that includes joy, love, peace, and happiness and to share and inspire others with my journey and through my work.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

I have the most successful, fun clients one can ask of. I’m also a real estate investor with rental properties that house students, nurses and professionals short-term doing their time in the city on special assignments, I’m a licensed massage therapist, SAG Actress Playwright and Author. I have written two books, one From Wrags to Ritches and the other From Wrags to Ritches Cycles. I’m presently building a spa and wellness center. I’m excited to have mastered my talents and careers and be able to use them all to help others.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The most impactful qualities were the negative experiences I witness from my parents young life. Their negative experiences became a road map that help me to avoid the same mistakes. However it took a strong will power and the help of God not to repeat the cycle. I suggest to all that if you want to grow successful grow spiritually first, obey that quiet voice take the negative things out and put the positive in.

Who has been most helpful in helping you overcome challenges or build and develop the essential skills, qualities or knowledge you needed to be successful?

God and my parents were most helpful in me overcoming challenges, developing and becoming successful. I was able to to avoid many traps, dysfunctional patterns by using my parents life as a road map. I took the good and used it and left the bad. I used God voice and trusted his directions even when I wasn’t sure.
