Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sharon Cruz. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Sharon , thank you so much for taking the time to share your lessons learned with us and we’re sure your wisdom will help many. So, one question that comes up often and that we’re hoping you can shed some light on is keeping creativity alive over long stretches – how do you keep your creativity alive?
I keep my creativity alive in the fashion world by constantly staying inspired by fabrics, colors, textures, and the beauty of everyday life around me. I allow myself to experiment, sketch freely, and turn ideas into tangible pieces that express emotion and identity. Whether I’m designing, sewing, or simply observing trends and people’s personal style, I use it all as fuel to grow as an artist. Creating fashion is not just about clothing for me it’s my way of telling stories, celebrating individuality, and keeping my passion alive through every stitch and detail. The fashion industry is a changing one, you have to keep visualizing.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am a fashion designer who creates handcrafted, one-of-a-kind garments that celebrate individuality, femininity, and confidence. What excites me most about my work is the process of transforming an idea into a real, wearable piece of art — from sketching and fabric selection to the final stitch. My brand focuses on thoughtful details, quality craftsmanship, and timeless designs that feel both personal and empowering. I’m constantly learning about the fashion industry and evolving my craft every day, always pushing myself to grow, refine my skills, and stay inspired. I look forward to building my own atelier in North Carolina, working alongside skilled seamstresses to manufacture high-quality garments that honor craftsmanship, creativity, and local production. I’m excited to continue expanding through custom designs, limited-edition collections, and meaningful collaborations as I keep bringing my vision to life.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, the most impactful qualities in my journey have been persistence, craftsmanship, curiosity, and discipline. Persistence helped me keep going through setbacks, slow seasons, and self-doubt. Craftsmanship shaped my respect for quality, detail, and the importance of mastering the basics before experimenting. Curiosity has kept me open to learning, whether it’s understanding fabrics, construction techniques, or how the fashion industry works behind the scenes. Discipline has been essential in building real skill showing up even when motivation wasn’t there, practicing consistently, and treating my craft with seriousness. My advice for those early in their journey is to create disciplined habits around your work, practice daily (even in small ways), stay patient with yourself, and remain curious. Don’t rush the process or compare your chapter one to someone else’s chapter twenty. Focus on strong foundations, learn from every experience, and trust that consistent effort will carry you

Tell us what your ideal client would be like?
My ideal client is someone who values craftsmanship, individuality, and thoughtful design. She appreciates high-quality garments and understands the time, skill, and artistry that go into creating something truly special. She is confident, expressive, and not afraid to stand out, using fashion as a form of self-expression rather than just following trends. She respects the creative process, trusts the vision, and enjoys being part of something personal and intentional. Most of all, my ideal client loves feeling powerful, beautiful, and authentic in what she wears.
