Meet Sharon Kim

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sharon Kim. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Sharon, so great to have you with us and thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with the community. So, let’s jump into something that stops so many people from going after their dreams – haters, nay-sayers, etc. We’d love to hear about how you dealt with that and persisted on your path.

Persisting in the face of haters and naysayers really comes down to staying connected to your purpose. When you’re clear about what you’re working toward, it’s easier to tune out the opinions of people who don’t understand your journey. I’ve learned not to take advice from people who don’t have the life I’m striving for—you can’t let someone who hasn’t walked your path tell you where to go. At the end of the day, the only person who truly has your best interest at heart is yourself—and for me, that’s also trusting in God. I’ve realized not everyone is meant to be part of my journey, and you have to be quick to cut off those who don’t have your best interests at heart. It’s about protecting your energy and staying focused on what really matters. I also try to see challenges and criticism as opportunities to grow, rather than setbacks. I remind myself that my progress isn’t defined by other people’s opinions. Building self-belief has been key for me—I focus on my strengths and the unique path I’m on. I’ve learned to prioritize progress over perfection, understanding that setbacks are just part of the process. And I make a conscious effort to avoid negative environments, people, or even thoughts that could pull me off track. Staying grounded in my purpose and protecting my peace has helped me push forward, no matter what anyone else has to say.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?

I’d love to share more about what I do and what we’re building at Revive Fashion Week. For me, it all started with a passion for creating opportunities for independent designers and creatives who were often overlooked by the mainstream fashion world. I wanted to build something that would give them the spotlight they deserve. Revive Fashion Week is more than just a fashion show—it’s a platform where we can uplift diverse voices and give them the tools they need to grow, all while driving change in the industry.

What’s been really exciting lately is the expansion of our events into European cities like Milan, Paris, and London. This has allowed us to take our mission to a global stage, offering even more creatives a chance to showcase their work to new audiences. And we’re not stopping there. In 2025, we’re expanding even further, with 10 bases worldwide, so Revive Fashion Week will truly be an international movement.

What makes me most proud is that we’re not just putting on shows—we’re fostering a community where inclusivity, innovation, and diversity are celebrated. We’re creating spaces for designers and models of all backgrounds, sizes, and stories to shine. I really believe that fashion can be a force for social change, and that’s at the heart of everything we do.

We’ve got some exciting things coming up, and I’m thrilled to see how much more we can grow and continue pushing the industry forward.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?

Looking back, I’d say the three qualities that have been most impactful in my journey are humility, gratitude, and adaptability. These have shaped not only how I approach my work but also how I navigate the challenges and opportunities that come with building something meaningful.

Humility has been essential because no matter how much you accomplish, there’s always something new to learn. It’s about being open to feedback, understanding that you don’t have all the answers, and staying grounded. For anyone early in their journey, I’d say don’t be afraid to admit what you don’t know and always be willing to learn from those around you—whether they’re mentors, peers, or even people newer than you. Growth comes from that willingness to learn and evolve.

Gratitude is what has kept me centered. For me, it’s about recognizing God’s hand in everything that’s led me to this moment. I am grateful not just for the successes, but for the life experiences—both good and bad—that have shaped me into the person I am today. Those experiences have strengthened my faith and given me the perspective I need to keep pushing forward. My advice here is to pause and appreciate the journey, the lessons, and the blessings you’ve received, trusting that every step has a purpose.

Lastly, adaptability has been a game-changer. The fashion industry, like many industries, is constantly evolving, and being able to pivot and adjust has allowed me to stay ahead. Whether it’s responding to new challenges, embracing new trends, or finding creative solutions, adaptability is key. For those starting out, I’d say embrace change rather than resist it. The more flexible you are, the more opportunities will come your way.

All three of these—humility, gratitude, and adaptability—are qualities that have shaped my journey, and I believe they can help anyone build a path toward success, no matter what industry or path they’re on.

Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?

When I feel overwhelmed, I find that the best thing I can do is take a step back, go for a walk, and talk to God. It gives me a chance to clear my head, breathe, and reconnect with what’s truly important. Walking helps me release the stress, and talking to God gives me the perspective and peace I need to move forward with clarity. It reminds me that I’m not alone in whatever I’m facing.

My advice to anyone feeling overwhelmed is to find that space where you can disconnect, even if it’s just for a few minutes. Whether it’s walking, meditating, or sitting quietly, giving yourself a moment to pause is crucial. And for me, prayer helps realign my focus and calm my mind. Trusting that everything will work out in its time is a powerful way to overcome those moments of stress.
