Meet Sharon Secondus

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sharon Secondus. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Sharon, thanks for sharing your insights with our community today. Part of your success, no doubt, is due to your work ethic and so we’d love if you could open up about where you got your work ethic from?

My work ethic is deeply rooted in my Nigerian heritage. Growing up surrounded by incredibly driven and hardworking individuals, if you know a few things about Nigerians – they are hardworking people. I’ve always believed in giving my best, no matter how big or small the job. I’ve always been inspired by my parents’ dedication and perseverance. They instilled in me a strong work ethic that has shaped who I am today. This mentality has fueled my determination to put in the necessary effort to achieve my goals , even when faced with challenges.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

On my journey, I’ve faced my fair share of ups and downs, but I’ve never lost sight of what truly matters: keeping God at the center of my life. Today, I’m stronger, wiser, and more excited than ever to pursue my purpose.

For me, one thing remains crystal clear: my unwavering passion for healthcare and building communities. From my days as an international student to my current pursuits in healthcare technology, I’ve always been driven by a desire to improve patient experiences, bridge healthcare gaps, and harness the power of data to drive positive change. I believe data is crucial for addressing pressing healthcare challenges, such as improving maternal health and enhancing patient experiences.

One of my greatest joys is mentoring and supporting international students and professionals on their journeys. I understand firsthand the loneliness, frustrations, and roadblocks they may face, and I’m dedicated to helping them strategize the best path forward. I often tell my clients, “Your superpower is your international student journey.”

I also enjoy speaking at healthcare and student panels. I’m always open to connecting with potential clients through Top Mate.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

I’ve found that emotional intelligence, empathy, and confidence have been instrumental in my personal and professional growth. These qualities have helped me navigate challenges, build strong relationships, and achieve my goals. I still work on these qualities daily to better myself. No matter where you are on your journey, I believe these skills are essential for creating a successful lifestyle and a balanced life.
