We recently connected with Shaunii Rawls and have shared our conversation below.
Shaunii, so great to have you with us and we want to jump right into a really important question. In recent years, it’s become so clear that we’re living through a time where so many folks are lacking self-confidence and self-esteem. So, we’d love to hear about your journey and how you developed your self-confidence and self-esteem.
I didn’t wake up one day magically confident. My self-esteem has grown little by little, through seasons of stretching, stumbling, and learning to love myself fully. Pageantry and modeling gave me the first push standing on stages and being seen when I wanted to hide taught me courage.
Most of my confidence came from life itself. From walking into rooms where I was the only one who looked like me and choosing to stay anyway. From building Confident Studios and realizing that my voice, my vision, and my gifts are enough. From motherhood because raising my son has given me both a softer heart and a stronger backbone.
And through it all, my faith has been my anchor. I’ve learned that confidence isn’t about being perfect, it’s about trusting God, embracing who I am, and showing up even when it feels hard. I’m still growing, I’m still learning, and every day I remind myself that I am worthy just as I am.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I am the owner of Confident Studios, where I bring together videography, photography, and coaching to help beauty, health, and wellness brands shine with clarity and confidence. For me, it’s not just about creating content, it’s about capturing essence. Every frame, every story, is an opportunity to reflect both the inner work and the outer brilliance of the people and brands I serve.
What excites me most is the transformation I get to witness. So often, my clients come in unsure or even a little nervous about being in front of the camera, and by the end, they’re glowing not just on the outside, but with a renewed sense of belief in themselves. That shift is what makes this work so special to me.
Right now, I’m expanding Confident Studios with new offerings designed to make content creation and camera confidence more accessible. I’ve launched my Own Your Light™ 25-Day Camera Confidence Program to help beginners and professionals alike show up with purpose and peace. I’m also hosting VIP Content Days, where brands can walk away with months’ worth of polished, luxury content in just one session.
At its heart, my brand is about giving people permission to take up space, to tell their stories boldly, and to know they are worthy of being seen. That’s the kind of art I want to leave in the world.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Looking back, three qualities that have been most impactful for me are resilience, storytelling, and faith.
Resilience has carried me through challenges that could have easily made me give up. From being one of the few Black women in my industry to balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship, I’ve had to remind myself that setbacks are not endings, they’re lessons.
Storytelling has been the heartbeat of my work. Whether through videography, photography, or coaching, I’ve learned that it’s not just about creating content, it’s about capturing truth. The ability to listen deeply, see people clearly, and translate that into a visual story has opened doors and built connections I could never have imagined.
And faith is what grounds me. It’s what gives me courage to walk into rooms where I don’t feel ready, to build something bigger than myself, and to trust that God’s plan is greater than my fear.
For anyone just starting out, my advice would be this: develop your resilience by showing up even when it feels uncomfortable, sharpen your storytelling by practicing seeing the beauty in everyday moments, and strengthen your faith whether in God, in yourself, or in your vision so that when the road gets hard, you won’t lose sight of why you began. Growth takes time, but every step matters.

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
The best part of what I do is that I don’t have to do it alone, I get to create magic with others. That’s why I’m always open to collaboration. I’m especially excited to connect with people and brands in beauty, health, wellness, and lifestyle who believe that their story deserves to be told with heart.
What I love most about partnering is the energy that comes from aligning visions, when your passion meets my creativity, something unforgettable is born. It’s not just about the final photos or videos; it’s about the confidence, clarity, and joy you feel throughout the process.
If you’re reading this and feel a little spark, that’s your sign to reach out. I’d love to hear your vision and see how Confident Studios can help bring it to life in a way that feels true, beautiful, and impactful.
