We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shena Crawford a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Shena, thank you so much for making time for us today. Let’s jump right into a question so many in our community are looking for answers to – how to overcome creativity blocks, writer’s block, etc. We’d love to hear your thoughts or any advice you might have.
Creativity blocks are not just annoying for me—they’re detrimental to my business because Atlanta Bath Company thrives on creativity. Whether it’s formulating new product ideas, designing packaging, or crafting social media content, creativity is at the heart of everything I do. When I hit a block, it can feel overwhelming because so much depends on keeping that creative energy flowing.
To overcome these blocks, I’ve learned to embrace a few strategies that work well for me. First, I take a step back and allow myself to rest. I’ve realized that burnout is often the root cause of my creative blocks, so taking time to recharge is key. This could mean going for a walk, spending time in nature, or simply allowing myself to do something completely unrelated to work—like reading a good book or watching a favorite movie.
I also find inspiration in my surroundings and by immersing myself in art, culture, and other creative works. Visiting a local gallery, listening to a new podcast, or exploring different perspectives on social media can spark fresh ideas. Collaborating with my team or even bouncing ideas off friends has been invaluable, too—sometimes just hearing another perspective is all it takes to get unstuck.
Another approach I use is setting smaller, more manageable goals. If I can’t seem to tackle a big project head-on, I’ll break it down into smaller tasks. Focusing on one small thing, like brainstorming names for a new product or sketching a rough draft of a label, often helps me get back into the flow.
Lastly, I’ve learned to give myself grace during these moments. Creativity isn’t something you can force, and I remind myself that even the most successful people face creative blocks. The important thing is to keep showing up and trust that the inspiration will return—and it always does.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
At Atlanta Bath Company, we create skincare products designed to step away from the boring and traditional skincare by offering exciting products that mimic what you would find in a bakery or dessert counter. What excites me most about what we do is knowing that our products are not only addressing common skincare concerns but also encouraging my customers to prioritize themselves in their busy lives. It’s special to know that something I’ve created can play a role in someone’s journey to feeling beautiful and confident.
What I think sets Atlanta Bath Company apart is the level of thought and care that goes into every product. From formulating the perfect sugar scrub to designing packaging that feels luxurious yet approachable, everything we do is intentional.
Right now, I’m incredibly excited about what’s ahead for Atlanta Bath Company. We just launched a new line of body oils and lotions that complement our existing products, providing an even more holistic approach to skincare. Additionally, I’m exploring opportunities to partner with local businesses and expand our reach.
I’d also like folks to know that Atlanta Bath Company isn’t just about skincare—it’s about creating moments of joy, relaxation, and self-love in a world that often feels hectic and overwhelming. My goal is to keep evolving the brand while staying true to its core mission: to deliver high-quality, unique products that help people feel their best every day.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back on my journey with Atlanta Bath Company, I can confidently say there were three qualities and skills that made the biggest impact: resilience, creativity, and business acumen. Each of these played a crucial role in building the brand and navigating the ups and downs of entrepreneurship.
– Resilience has been absolutely essentia! Starting and growing a business comes with a lot of challenges—moments when things don’t go as planned or when self-doubt creeps in. Resilience allowed me to keep pushing forward even when I wasn’t sure how things would turn out. My advice for developing resilience is to remember your ‘why.’ Why did you start? What’s the bigger vision? Keeping that in mind helps you stay grounded and focused, even when times are tough.
– Creativity is the backbone of Atlanta Bath Company. From designing new products to connecting with customers through social media, creativity is what keeps the brand fresh and exciting. For those starting out, I recommend nurturing your creativity by staying curious and exploring things outside of your comfort zone. Whether it’s reading, traveling, or trying a new hobby, inspiration can come from anywhere. Don’t be afraid to think outside the box and bring your unique perspective to whatever you create.
– Lastly, business acumen has been a game-changer. Having a great product isn’t enough, you need to know how to market it, manage finances, and build relationships. Early in my journey, I leaned on research , mentors, and trial and error to learn these skills. For anyone just starting, I’d say invest in your education, whether it’s through online courses, books, or connecting with other entrepreneurs. In the beginning I read so many books and highlighted everything that was helpful that I read. Don’t be afraid to ask for help! Surround yourself with people who have skills or knowledge you don’t yet have. Collaboration can be incredibly powerful.
Most importantly, give yourself room to grow. Success doesn’t happen overnight, and it’s okay to make mistakes. Every experience, good or bad, is a lesson that brings you closer to your goals. Keep showing up, stay open to learning, and trust the process.”

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Absolutely! I’m particularly interested in working with skincare enthusiasts, beauty influencers, and content creators who are passionate about showcasing unique products. I’d also love to partner with wellness brands, spas, or boutique retailers looking to expand their offerings. Additionally, I’m open to collaborating with other small businesses to celebrate and amplify our collective impact.
If you’re a fellow entrepreneur, creative, or organization that shares these values, I’d love to hear from you. Let’s work together to create something meaningful that inspires and uplifts our communities.
