Meet SHENNA

We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful SHENNA. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with SHENNA below.

SHENNA, so excited to have you with us today. So much we can chat about, but one of the questions we are most interested in is how you have managed to keep your creativity alive.
Being a creative for so many years can be a beautiful yet challenging battle because as you grow and evolve as an artist, the industry around you changes. I have been able to keep my creativity alive simply by always reminding myself why I started creating in the first place. It makes me the person I am today. I constantly draw inspiration by the people and atmosphere around me and genuinely make sure I am having fun while creating or else it comes off untrue.

Let’s take a small detour – maybe you can share a bit about yourself before we dive back into some of the other questions we had for you?
Hi everyone! I’m Shenna—singer, songwriter, actress, and model originally from Virginia, now calling New York City home. My journey as an artist has taken me around the world, performing in cities like London, Japan, Canada, and across the U.S. My musical journey took a big leap when I released my first EP, which led to a signing with a music licensing company and opened doors I never imagined. Since then, my songs have been featured in major TV shows, films, and commercials, including Selling Sunset on Netflix, The WNBA, and Disney’s Stargirl. I’ve also been blessed to be featured in Rolling Stone India, Billboard, and Refinery 29 to name a few.

Like many others, the pandemic changed the course of my career, but it also gave me a chance to reflect on my long-term goals as an artist. During that time, I decided to reignite my passion for acting. I didn’t announce it right away—I just focused on refining my craft, building my network, and growing. Now, I’m proud to be a member of SAG-AFTRA, with several principal roles under my belt, including acting and voiceover work.

For 2025, my mantra is “Fearless.” I’m ready to push myself harder than ever, releasing the music I’m passionate about, creating fun and engaging content, and continuing to evolve as an actor. The journey is just beginning, and I can’t wait to see what’s next!

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Love that question! I will answer one for each category.

1.) For qualities it has to be my drive. I remember as a teenager up until today I learned so much about pr as when I first started blogs were everything! I would spend hours with tunnel vision looking up emails and connecting with people. I was able to land on so many outlets and sites because of this and also perform at many big venues.

2.) I would say one of my skills is my business mindset. Unfortunately, it is far too often that people try to take advantage of artist by getting them to perform for no cost and other things to that nature. My strong understanding of terminology, contracts, and negotiating has made it possible for me to be a full time creative for many years now.

3.) My area of knowledge I would say is social media. Even though it can be daunting, I do understand how to make it work to your benefit as a creative. I look at things from a viewers perspective many times while incorporating my own identity.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?
I’ll be honest: I feel overwhelmed a lot of the time! And I know I’m not alone in this—being a creative often means that your income isn’t just tied to how hard you work, but also to timing, strategy, and the unpredictable nature of the industries you’re in.

When I made the decision to not only focus on music but to seriously pursue acting as well, I felt like I was juggling a million things at once. It was chaotic. But over time, I realized that if I wanted to grow, I needed to approach my creative work with more structure—just like a 9-to-5 job. It became clear that having a plan and a routine was key.

Now, I set clear boundaries and organize my time with to-do lists and detailed calendar schedules. Breaking down my day has been a game changer when it comes to handling overwhelm. I also make it a point to step away from work at a reasonable time—unless there’s a pressing deadline. I’ve learned that balance and recharging are essential for staying creative and productive in the long run.
