Meet Sherille Marquez

We recently connected with Sherille Marquez and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Sherille , appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?
My resilience comes from a life that’s been a mix of tough challenges and moments of triumph. When I was just 8, moving to the US from the Philippines was a big adjustment. And growing up here wasn’t easy either. There were a lot of ups and downs.

At 18, as soon as I graduated HS, I ran away from home to escape a toxic and abusive environment. I worked three jobs simultaneously just to make ends meet and managed to take a few classes at Pasadena City College.

Years later, my then 3-year-old son was diagnosed with cancer while I was six months pregnant. I thought I had experienced the worst kind of pain with my child having cancer. But life said, “not so fast”, there’s more for you to learn.

Several years later, I discovered my husband of 13 years was having an affair. Divorce is a different kind of pain. One that will stretch you in ways you didn’t think possible.

But through all of it, there’s been this inner strength, what I like to call my warrior spirit, that’s kept me going.

Resilience, for me, isn’t just about bouncing back from tough times. It’s about finding ways to grow and learn from them. It’s about accepting the scars and using them as reminders of how far I’ve come.

Helping other women going through similar struggles is my life’s work and mission. Because I know firsthand how hard it can be, but also how possible it is to come out stronger on the other side.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?
I’m a Transformational Coach for Divorced Women and I’m incredibly excited about the impact I’m making.

I’m absolutely thrilled about the success of my new podcast, “It Gets Better From Here.” Designed specifically to empower divorced women and single moms, it’s a platform where they can find solutions, guidance, and inspiration to heal and thrive. The response has been overwhelming—within just 48 hours of launching, we made the charts! It’s incredible to see the impact we’re already making as it’s my mission to positively impact the lives of MILLIONS of divorced women and single moms.

But that’s not all I’m excited about. I’m gearing up for an upcoming event that’s close to my heart: a three-day free workshop “Biohacking Your Best Life After Divorce.” During these sessions, we’ll dive deep into various topics, offering practical solutions on how divorced women can rebuild their self-confidence, learn to love themselves again, discover their authentic selves, and break free from feeling stuck. It’s going to be an empowering journey of growth and transformation, and I can’t wait to see the positive changes it brings to the lives of those who attend.

My goal in the next 2-4 years is to establish a non-profit organization that will provide free resources such as coaching, courses, workshops, and more to divorced women and single moms. It’s about creating a supportive community where every woman has access to the tools and support she needs to thrive after divorce.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Reflecting on my journey, three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge stand out as the most impactful: resilience, self-awareness, and continuous learning.

Firstly, resilience has been my constant companion through every challenge and setback. It’s the ability to bounce back, adapt, and keep moving forward, no matter how tough the circumstances. My advice for those starting their journey is to cultivate resilience by embracing failures as learning opportunities, staying flexible in the face of change, and nurturing a positive mindset that sees obstacles as stepping stones to growth.

Secondly, self-awareness has been instrumental in guiding my path. It’s about knowing who you are, what you stand for, and what truly matters to you. Developing self-awareness requires introspection, reflection, and a willingness to explore your strengths, weaknesses, and values. My advice is to carve out time for self-reflection, journaling, and seeking feedback from trusted mentors or friends. The more you understand yourself, the better equipped you’ll be to make aligned choices and navigate challenges authentically.

Lastly, continuous learning has been key to my growth and evolution. From investing in personal development programs to seeking out mentors and coaches, I’ve never stopped seeking knowledge and new perspectives. My advice for those starting their journey is to adopt a growth mindset and commit to lifelong learning. Whether it’s through books, courses, workshops, or conversations with experts, prioritize growth and embrace every opportunity to expand your skills and understanding.

For those early in their journey, my advice is to cultivate these qualities by embracing challenges, exploring your inner landscape, and committing to growth and self-improvement. Every step forward, no matter how small, brings you closer to your goals.

What has been your biggest area of growth or improvement in the past 12 months?
In the past year, the biggest leap I’ve taken has been stepping out from the shadows and embracing vulnerability by sharing my story on camera. I used to hold back, playing it small and hiding, afraid of what others might think. But, I realized that to truly make a difference in the lives of millions of divorced women and single moms, I had to shed that fear and show up authentically.

It wasn’t easy. There were moments when I doubted myself, but I kept reminding myself of the impact I could have if I stopped letting fear hold me back. Slowly, the fear started melting away. By focusing on the message and the potential to give others hope and inspiration, I found a new sense of confidence.

Now, I feel like I’m truly connecting with others on a deeper level, especially with my podcast “It Gets Better From Here”, sharing my journey, and helping others see that they’re not alone. It’s been such a rewarding experience, and I’m grateful for everyone’s support every step of the way.
