Meet Sherman Holman

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Sherman Holman. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Sherman, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?

I’ve learned to be effective and successful in these situations by relying on my confidence in my work and the experience I’ve accumulated in my field. While I may not have the same formal accolades or traditional qualifications as others, I know my abilities and the value I bring to the table. I’ve honed my skills over time and have a deep understanding of the work, which allows me to stand firm in my expertise. My focus is on delivering results and contributing meaningfully, not on trying to fit into a specific mold. This mindset helps me stay grounded, even in rooms where I may be the only one who looks like me. I know that the quality of my work and my confidence in it speak louder than anything else.

Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?

I am the founder and owner of Just Move and Just Logistics, businesses I established to provide solutions for moving household goods and freight nationwide, with a focus on the DFW and Houston areas. My entry into the moving industry was a strategic move to eventually expand into trucking, which I successfully achieved with the launch of Just Logistics. We are currently in the process of broadening our service offerings to include storage and truck parking.

In addition to my work in logistics, I have ventured into the fashion and designer dog breeding sectors through partnerships with DRTYLaundry Paris and Rare Souls Kennels. Both of these brands stand out for their exceptional service and high-quality products, which I fully believe in. I saw tremendous potential in these partnerships and have embraced the opportunity to collaborate with them.

My overarching goal is to continue growing and scaling each of the businesses I am involved in, leveraging my expertise and drive to make a meaningful impact in every industry I enter.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

I would tell anybody embarking on their entrepreneurial journey to be passionate about their work, have a plan and be resilient. My best trait in my journey has been my resilience and willingness to learn. You have to become a sponge and try to gain as much information as possible. Once you put the passion behind a good work ethic anything is possible.

As we end our chat, is there a book you can leave people with that’s been meaningful to you and your development?

Tilman Fertitta, Shut up and listen. This book taught me a lot about the ups and downs that come with being an entrepreneur. One of the most valuable lessons I learned was about preparing for things to go wrong because they will. However, if you’ve put your self in a position to be able to handle the losses you will be able to overcome them and keep pushing.
