Meet Sherri Roberts

We recently connected with Sherri Roberts and have shared our conversation below.

Sherri , we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
My relationship with Christ as my Lord and Savior has been the most significant factor that has helped me to develop a healthy confidence and self-esteem. I did not always have this. In my teenage years, I had an eating disorder and struggled, feeling quite unlovely despite the success I experienced as a journalism major in college.

In later years, I made the decision to separate from my husband after almost 20 years of marriage, the majority of which I was a stay-at-home mom who homeschooled my children. One of the greatest blessings of my life at that time was attaining a job with an award-winning plastic surgeon. As I faced the challenges of a difficult divorce, I was simultaneously navigating an exciting, fast-paced career and a new world of dating.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
As the marketing director for plastic surgeon Dr. Christopher Patronella for the past 12 years, I’ve had the privilege to orchestrate his marketing through numerous platforms, including magazine articles, blogs, advertising campaigns, his website, and social media. With my background in journalism in
conjunction with my own experiences as a woman, the communication I compose is strategic,
weaving together the information that I would want to know as a prospective patient and to do
so with the objective to engage, inform, and compel them to choose Dr. Patronella as
their surgeon.

Prior to this, I homeschooled my children using a literature-based education method. I had the amazing opportunity to use that skill to develop and teach a reading program at Star of Hope, a Christ-centered community dedicated to meeting the needs of homeless men, women and their children. My current side ventures include speaking and writing a book.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Willingness to learn new skills and apply them, even though your results will most likely be imperfect, particularly in the beginning

2. Courage to learn from your mistakes and persevere, becoming better through continual self-education

3, Humility to seek insights from those who can provide you with wisdom to illuminate your understanding and help you grow

What was the most impactful thing your parents did for you?
My parents are perpetual learners and entrepreneurs, always reading books and pursuing ventures they’re inspired to develop. They’ve both written books, had successful speaking careers and businesses. Throughout their 56-year marriage, they’ve modeled love, respect, and support for one another. I’m ever grateful for their kindness, ingenuity, and tenacity to pursue their goals. They are a gift.
