We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shiketa Days a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Shiketa, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?
My confidence stems from my childhood growing up around my peers. I believe confidence has been a key to improving my self-esteem, becoming the person I am today that is fearless when it comes to working on goals to become successful. As children, if you don’t stand with the popular crowd you’re often picked on by others. Sometimes you just have to embrace who you are and grow into the person you want to become. I embrace all my characteristics, my uniqueness and my flaws.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
Wow, my 22nd year as a Police Dispatcher II full-time and 13 years as a Nonprofit Owner and manager along with my husband Derrick Days. My husband and I launched the ‘Boss Up Visual Podcast in 2020. We had a vision for a media platform for small underserved businesses and minority business owners. Following the launching of the podcast we launched our ‘Boss Up Visual Conference, Boss Up Visual Awards and Boss Up Visual Magazine, to help small urban neighborhoods have a voice and a face in the media industry. By doing so, this helps individuals become more visible and they can celebrate their natural talents and skills.
For decades the media has praised Musicians, Actresses, Actors, Models etc. But, we thought to ourselves what about the individuals that put in work day in and day out for their communities working to make a difference?
Products we provide are home goods, fundraiser apparel that supports our platform and contributes to large and small scale events or workshops. Campaign signs to raise awareness of Gun Violence or deadly incidents.
The services we provide range from Business Startups, Website Development, landing pages, digital promotion and marketing services. We also provide licensing and state compliance assistance. Book Publishing, mentorship programs and our Inner Circle Membership benefits program.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Three best qualities that have really shaped my journey are compassion for others. Have a strong work ethic and dedication to providing public service. Staying dedicated to the mission with integrity and respect.

Awesome, really appreciate you opening up with us today and before we close maybe you can share a book recommendation with us. Has there been a book that’s been impactful in your growth and development?
Think and Grow Rich, The Power of NOW.
In order to be successful mindset is very important. Your negative thoughts could be your worst enemy as well as procrastination.
We all put off today for tomorrow. The books teach individuals how to navigate through life, change your thinking and act Immediately on your life goals to accomplish your dreams and reality.
