Meet Shinia Malloy

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shinia Malloy a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Shinia , we are so happy that our community is going to have a chance to learn more about you, your story and hopefully even take in some of the lessons you’ve learned along the way. Let’s start with self-care – what do you do for self-care and has it had any impact on your effectiveness?
When it comes to self-care, I always make time to be around the people I love as often as possible. I travel often and I’m really good at balancing my time between work and pleasure.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
A full time Early Childhood Specialist, training teachers during the day and a Chef at night & on the weekends cooking up some of Metro Detroits most unique Pasta cuisines. Shinia Malloy is a first generation College Graduate & Entrepreneur. Plenti Pastas Plus More Family & Event Catering was established December 10, 2017 as my plan to become an entrepreneur went from being written in my journal to reality. I’m a family & self- taught chef who’s passionate about creating good food using natural & fresh ingredients with an unforgettable taste to match! Many of the dishes I create come from family recipes that have been used in our family for over 3 generations. Plenti Pastas mission is to provide all clients with an ultimate good food experience! All food is prepared with our hand-blended, salt free seasonings. Our services include full service catering, private chef services, and our recently purchased Food Truck! Convenient for any location and any season, intimate dining experiences, and the ability to alleviate our clients of stress associated with small or large-scale meal preparation is what has helped our company continuously grow over the past 5 years. We’re looking forward to being present at local festivals around the Metro-Detroit Area in the Spring of 2024.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Being consistent is key to growing any business. You have to find ways to stand out and grow in your own lane. Don’t look at others processes and compare them to your own. What’s for you will always be for you as long as you put in the work! Surrounding yourself with likeminded individuals and building business relationships will help you elevate your business in ways you wouldn’t imagine.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?
I am currently seeking partnerships with event venues. With this partnership, some of the event packages could include food and I can also recommend the venue when providing services to my clients as well. I also seek to sponsor 1-2 youth or family events throughout the year to show support and be a positive impact on different communities around the city of Detroit.
