We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shorty Adtr. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shorty below.
Shorty, thanks for taking the time to share your lessons with our community today. So, let’s jump right in – one of the most essential skills for unlocking our potential is self-discipline. Where does your self-discipline come from?
Seeing Jeremy McKinnon age lol but on the serious note whenever I see Adtr and see how far they’ve come it makes me want to be better. Drawing, painting, tattooing constantly is all from my inspiration of Adtr and their success.
Appreciate the insights and wisdom. Before we dig deeper and ask you about the skills that matter and more, maybe you can tell our readers about yourself?
Hello! I’m shorty ADTR (: I am a tattoo artist located in Denver, I work at lumenati tattoo. I think tattooing is special because I get to meet so many people around the world and I get to spread my art constantly. I’m always excited to go into work just for the simple fact that these people choose me to put my art on them forever and I’ll always be grateful for that. I do always sell prints, and right now I’m working on a clothing line so hoping it’ll be launched within the next couple of months!(:
Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Honestly find something that you love so much and let it kill you. I have done nothing but surrender my life to art, and to my craft in tattooing. I use ADTR as motivation that anything is possible in this lifetime if you truly want it.
Okay, so before we go, is there anyone you’d like to shoutout for the role they’ve played in helping you develop the essential skills or overcome challenges along the way?
At first it was my love for ADTR that made me want to grow as an artist. But in the past couple of years I met someone special that made the biggest impact on my life yet. His knowledge, hope, and belief changed the trajectory of my career and life. His name is Zach, and without him I wouldn’t have someone in my corner through thick and thin. He’s done nothing but critique my work, and push me as an artist to thinking outside the box. He’s the one person in my life that I’ll forever hold dearly in my heart because he was the first one to ever believe in me.
