Meet Shreeyeh Rajan

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shreeyeh Rajan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Shreeyeh, thank you so much for opening up with us about some important, but sometimes personal topics. One that really matters to us is overcoming Imposter Syndrome because we’ve seen how so many people are held back in life because of this and so we’d really appreciate hearing about how you overcame Imposter Syndrome.

When I quit my 9-5 job to become a full-time California travel blogger, I had major imposter syndrome. But to overcome it, I recognized my unique perspective as a local and embraced continuous learning.

I started small, creating content while at my 9-5 job to build my confidence gradually. As I focused on writing and celebrating small wins, I eventually quit my job and began to see myself as a legitimate voice in the California travel space.

This combination of leveraging my insider knowledge, allowing myself room to grow, and acknowledging my progress helped me combat feelings of being an impostor in my new career.

Over time, I realized that my experiences and passion for California gave me valuable insights to share, which helped solidify my confidence in my new path.

Thanks for sharing that. So, before we get any further into our conversation, can you tell our readers a bit about yourself and what you’re working on?

I’m the founder of Bae Area and Beyond, a California travel site dedicated to sharing the best the Golden State has to offer. What excites me most about my work is the opportunity to share California’s hidden gems and must-see attractions to locals and tourists.

Through Bae Area and Beyond, I showcase everything from breathtaking natural wonders to urban hotspots, best restaurants, and hotel reviews.

I’m passionate about providing the latest, most up-to-date information to ensure our readers have the best possible California experience.

But we’re more than just a travel guide. I also offer personalized travel planning services for those visiting California. Planning a trip can be overwhelming, especially in a state as diverse and expansive as California. That’s why I’m here to take the stress out of your travel preparation. By leveraging my extensive knowledge and local insights, I can craft a tailored itinerary that matches your interests, budget, and timeline, saving you valuable time and ensuring you don’t miss out on any must-see experiences.

I’d love for your readers to check out the site, explore our travel guides, and reach out if they need any help planning their next California trip.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the qualities most impactful in my journey were my work ethic, resourcefulness, and creativity. These allowed me to consistently produce content, find unique stories, and develop a distinct brand voice for my California travel site.

For those early in their journey, my main advice is to keep going even when it feels like it’s not working out. Every established blogger started where you are. Stay committed to your vision and don’t give up when faced with challenges. Your unique perspective is valuable, and with persistence, you can succeed in the blogging world.

Okay, so before we go we always love to ask if you are looking for folks to partner or collaborate with?

I’m always excited to collaborate with others who share a passion for California. Specifically, I’m looking to partner with California-based brands that align with travel, lifestyle, or local experiences, Tourism boards across California and travel bloggers who have unique perspectives on the state.

These collaborations could involve content creation, cross-promotion, sponsored trips, or joint projects that showcase the best of California to our audiences.

You can reach out to me directly at [email protected].
