Meet Shruti Dabas

We were lucky to catch up with Shruti Dabas recently and have shared our conversation below.

Shruti, we’re so excited for our community to get to know you and learn from your journey and the wisdom you’ve acquired over time. Let’s kick things off with a discussion on self-confidence and self-esteem. How did you develop yours?

Growing up, I was a shy and underconfident girl who often felt the need to hide behind others. I was scared to share my opinions, struggled with insecurities about my appearance, and believed that my thoughts didn’t matter. It wasn’t until I moved to a new country and had to navigate life on my own that I began to discover my individuality and build my confidence. The fact that no one knew me in Canada gave me a fresh start, and it transformed my life. I realized the power of being confident in myself, stopped worrying about what others thought, and embraced the opportunity to become the confident person I had always wanted to be.

Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?

As the founder of South Asian Boss Women. I’m passionate about creating a space where South Asian women can connect, empower one another, and celebrate our unique experiences and cultural heritage. I was looking for spaces like this myself when I decided to create this space myself.

SABW is dedicated to fostering a community of ambitious women who are not only excelling in their careers but also embracing and taking pride in their identities. What excites me most about SABW is seeing how this platform has become a home for next-gen leaders and change-makers. It’s a place where meaningful and relevant conversations are happening, and where women can voice the change they wish to see for themselves and the next generation.

We’re also exploring new ways to expand our community through additional events, collaborations, and initiatives that align with our mission to empower and inspire.

I’m thrilled about the journey ahead and look forward to continuing to support and uplift South Asian women through SABW. Thank you for allowing me to share our story.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

Looking back, the three qualities that were most impactful in my journey were consistency, self-belief, and a leadership mindset.

Consistency has been crucial in everything I do. Whether it’s building a brand or pursuing personal growth, showing up every day and putting in the work, even when it’s challenging, has made all the difference. My advice to those early in their journey is to stay committed to your goals.

Self-belief has been another key factor. There were many moments of doubt and fear, but believing in myself and my vision helped me push through obstacles. Surround yourself with supportive people, but also learn to trust your instincts and have confidence in your abilities.

Finally, leadership mindset has been transformative. I learned that leadership isn’t just about leading others—it’s about leading yourself with purpose and integrity. For anyone beginning their journey, I recommend focusing on developing leadership qualities like resilience, empathy, and strategic thinking.

By focusing on these three areas—consistency, self-belief, and a leadership mindset—you can build a strong foundation for success and make meaningful progress in your journey.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?

Absolutely, we are always looking to partner and collaborate with like-minded individuals who are passionate about making a difference. At South Asian Boss Women, we’re particularly interested in collaborating with change-makers, leaders, and women who are eager to share their expertise and experiences with others. Whether you’re an expert in your field, a thought leader, or someone who is driven to inspire and empower others, we’d love to hear from you.

If you’re reading this and feel aligned with our mission, I encourage you to reach out. You can connect with us through our email – southasianbosswomen@gmail.com and Instagram.
