Meet Shubhra Jain

Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Shubhra Jain. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Hi Shubhra, appreciate you sitting with us today to share your wisdom with our readers. So, let’s start with resilience – where do you get your resilience from?

For me, resilience means being unstoppable. It’s not that I don’t feel doubt or overwhelm — I do, almost every day. There are moments when the to-do list feels endless and the vision feels too big. But I refuse to sit in the setback.

What keeps me going is this rhythm I’ve learned: I anchor myself in action by doing one small thing — because even if I can’t move mountains today, I can move one stone. And I anchor myself in presence by pausing to meditate, to breathe, to literally feel the ground under my feet.

That mix of doing and being is what keeps me from burning out. It allows me to keep moving forward with energy, purpose, and belief in the bigger vision. That’s what resilience looks like for me — unstoppable, but deeply grounded

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

Right now, my focus is on growing House of Alaan and, at the same time, exploring opportunities to consistently give back to the community — something very close to my heart and on the horizon for the new year.

What makes House of Alaan special is that it stirs both nostalgia and intention. Time and again, people come up to me at markets or pop-ups and say things like, *‘This reminds me of my mother,’* or *‘I already have too many table linens but I just can’t leave this one.’* I’ve met college students who want to take a quilt with them as a piece of home, and others who say our prints feel like traveling to the French countryside.

That’s the magic of heirloom-quality pieces — they’re not just useful, they’re cherished. They carry beauty, craftsmanship, and a feeling you want to hold on to.

This season is especially exciting because we have new products launching for the holidays — very giftable pieces — and we’re showing up at some wonderful events, like Round Top and some big Christmas markets. Readers should definitely keep an eye out for updates, because there’s so much beauty and joy coming.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?

1. Passion + Perseverance
From the very beginning, passion has been my anchor. I don’t give up easily — when I commit to something, I stay with it. That fire has carried me through setbacks and helped me keep showing up, even when the outcome wasn’t clear.
*Advice:* Protect your “why.” If you’re deeply connected to why you’re doing this, it will sustain you through the tough parts.

2. Marketing as Storytelling + Strategy
I had to learn marketing from scratch — and quickly realized it wasn’t just about posting on Instagram. It meant pitching to buyers, understanding pricing, building systems, and most importantly, telling the story behind my products in a way that resonated.
*Advice:* Don’t be afraid to experiment and learn. Marketing is a skill, not an innate gift. Study, test, and keep refining your voice until it feels true to you.

3. Customer-Centric Mindset
One of my biggest shifts was understanding that this business isn’t just about what *I* love — it’s about how my pieces live in other people’s homes and hearts. Learning to listen, adapt, and honor both the craft and the customer changed everything.
*Advice:* Get close to your audience. Talk to them, watch how they interact with your product, and let that shape your decisions.

To close, maybe we can chat about your parents and what they did that was particularly impactful for you?

The most impactful thing my parents did for me was instill independence, kindness, and strong willpower. I’ve always heard, *‘You’re your father’s daughter’* — and now I realize how true that is. Everything from organization to interpersonal skills, I’ve absorbed from watching him run his business.

And then there’s my mom — she’s the epitome of strength. There’s so much I’ve yet to learn from her but that’s more when I’m done running after all the “things.”

Together, they’ve helped me shape House of Alaan with so much character, values, discipline, and faith — qualities I lean on every single day
