Hi Shureice, appreciate you sitting with us today. Maybe we can start with a topic that we care deeply about because it’s something we’ve found really sets folks apart and can make all the difference in whether someone reaches their goals. Self discipline seems to have an outsized impact on how someone’s life plays out and so we’d love to hear about how you developed yours?
I want it all. And I know that I am the only person who can give it to me. I feel there’s equal risk in taking risks and not trying at all. You might as well pick the level of difficulty that will at the very least result in a more fulfilling life for yourself.

Shureice Kornegay is an award-winning beauty visionary, cultural disruptor, and founder of Fleeky Friday—a high-impact beauty brand that blends science, storytelling, and sparkle. Dubbed “The Ultimate Glam” by ELLE Magazine (who not only featured her—but followed her), Shureice has built a magnetic beauty empire from the ground up, with designs worn by Cardi B and Christina Aguilera, and a patented crystal eyeliner system that’s redefining the lash line.

Looking back, what do you think were the three qualities, skills, or areas of knowledge that were most impactful in your journey? What advice do you have for folks who are early in their journey in terms of how they can best develop or improve on these?
Resilience has kept me in motion through burnout, financial strain, and heartbreak. As a solo founder with no investors and no cushion, I’ve had to show up even when I felt discouraged. Building my brand from scratch and keeping it alive through many obstacles.
Self-teaching – I learned to create high-performance beauty products like nothing on the market that resulted in patents. I learned to attract global icons, build community, and fulfill thousands of orders myself — because many beauty founders that look like me do not receive funding and support. I never let that stop me or slow me down.
Discernment – I learned the hard way that not every opportunity is worth your energy and not every person rooting for you is rooting for your success. I love to see my friends and colleagues win, and I deserve to be surrounded by those who wish the same for me.
My advice to others is to never say never and trust your gut! That idea you have is incredible. Pursue it! And don’t forget to teach yourself something incredible today!
Any advice for folks feeling overwhelmed?
When I feel overwhelmed, I rest.
That feeling is your body’s way of trying to communicate with you, and it’s your job to listen. Always. Rest doesn’t mean quitting. It means pausing so you don’t break. If I need to delay the rest of the day to catch up with myself, I will. You can’t outwork stress without eventually paying the price, so I give myself permission to pause, breathe, and reset.
