We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Shyann Yager a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Shyann, so great to have you with us today. There are so many topics we want to ask you about, but perhaps the one we can start with is burnout. How have you overcome or avoided burnout?
Balancing a full-time job, running my business, and being a mom can be a lot, but I’ve found some ways to avoid burnout.
I set clear boundaries, so when I’m working, I focus, and when I’m with my family, I’m present. Prioritizing tasks each week helps me focus on what’s important and not get overwhelmed by smaller stuff.
Staying flexible is key. Life can be unpredictable, so being open to adjusting my plans helps keep stress in check. It’s all about finding what works for you!
Great, so let’s take a few minutes and cover your story. What should folks know about you and what you do?
I’m excited to share what I do! I host paint parties focused on community engagement, partnering with local shops to create fun spaces where people can get creative and connect. It’s incredible to see new friendships blossom through art!
I also make custom engraved jewelry that serves as heartfelt keepsakes. Each piece tells a story and celebrates special moments, which makes them truly meaningful for those who wear them.
Together, my paint parties and jewelry bring people together and foster creativity in our community. I can’t wait to see what’s next!
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back, I’d say time management, adaptability, and having a solid support system were key. Juggling everything taught me how to prioritize and pivot when needed—and I couldn’t have done it without the people around me. My advice? Stay organized, stay flexible, and don’t be afraid to lean on your village. You don’t have to do it all alone.
One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
I’m always open to partnering with local businesses! I love teaming up for pop-up shops with my jewelry line, and I’m always looking for bars or coffee shops interested in hosting paint parties. We also offer private paint events for special occasions like birthdays, bachelorette parties, or even team-building events. If you’re interested in collaborating, you can reach out through the chat on our website at shydesignsonline.com or email me directly at shydesignsmo@gmail.com. Let’s make something fun happen!
