We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Shynna McCown. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Shynna below.
Alright, so we’re so thrilled to have Shynna with us today – welcome and maybe we can jump right into it with a question about one of your qualities that we most admire. How did you develop your work ethic? Where do you think you get it from?
I get it from my parents, without a doubt. Growing up in the ’90s, I watched them juggle the demands of running nightclubs and managing six real estate doors. It was a full-on lifestyle, long nights, early mornings, and a constant hustle. But what really stuck with me wasn’t just how hard they worked; my father physically ran it, and my mother assisted my father in handling the behind-the-scenes duties. It was the pride they took in building something for themselves and our family. They didn’t wait around for opportunity; they created it. That mindset shaped me early on, and it’s the same drive I carry into everything I do today.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Right now, I’m fully focused on building a business empire rooted in real estate, mindset, and impact. My journey started with a deep appreciation for hustle and ownership, values I inherited from my parents, who owned nightclubs and managed real estate doors while raising a family. That early exposure shaped how I see business today: as both a vehicle for freedom and a tool to create legacy.
Professionally, I wear a few hats: I’m a real estate investor, licensed Realtor, business coach, and published author, but it all ties back to one mission: empowering people to own their future through strategy, ownership, and mindset. That’s what my brand, Wealth Is A Mindset, is all about. It’s not just a slogan—it’s a lifestyle shift. We teach individuals how to unlock their potential, break generational patterns, and build wealth that lasts.
What excites me the most is seeing people shift from survival mode to ownership mode. I’ve helped clients close on properties, launch new businesses, and completely rewire their beliefs about money and success. That transformation work is what drives me.
We’ve got a lot of exciting things on the horizon:
I’m expanding my real estate portfolio and looking into multi-family deals and many doors.
We’re also growing the Wealth Is A Mindset platform with new courses, live events, and coaching programs launching soon.
And as an author, I’m currently thinking about working on my next book, which will be a twist from my series of 3 Wealth Is A Mindset editions!
I’m building something that will outlive me—and helping others do the same.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
Looking back, three qualities have been absolutely critical in my journey:
Discipline
Vision
Financial Literacy
Discipline is what separates goals from reality. It’s not about being motivated every day; it’s about showing up even when you’re tired, uncertain, or discouraged. I developed discipline by watching my parents grind day and night, running nightclubs and real estate properties. I learned early that success doesn’t come from wishing—it comes from doing. For anyone starting: start small, but stay consistent. Build daily habits that align with your long-term goals, even if the results don’t show up right away.
Vision gave me direction. I didn’t always know how I’d get there, but I always kept a clear picture of where I was going. Whether it was owning real estate, writing a book, or coaching others, I believed in it before it existed. If you’re new to this game, my advice is: don’t let your current situation limit your future vision. Dream big, write it down, and then reverse-engineer the steps.
Financial literacy was the game-changer. I didn’t grow up with financial advisors or trust funds—I had to learn the rules of money by studying, failing, and investing in myself. Once I understood how credit, leverage, real estate, and ownership worked, everything changed. That’s why I built Wealth Is A Mindset, to teach others what I wish I had known earlier. If you’re at the beginning, read, ask questions, and surround yourself with people who know more than you. Your net worth will often reflect your network and your knowledge.
And one bonus tip,
Whether you’re brainstorming a business idea, building a brand, or learning a new skill, you have access to game-changing knowledge at your fingertips. I believe in working smart and hard—and this is one way to do both.
“I wasn’t born into wealth; I built it brick by brick, mindset first. The grind is temporary, but the legacy is forever. Bet on yourself, learn the game, and don’t stop until ownership becomes your lifestyle.”

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
Yes, I’m absolutely open to partnering and collaborating, especially with people who are purpose-driven, action-oriented, and aligned with the mission of building generational wealth and impact.
I’m looking to collaborate with:
Real estate professionals (investors, agents, developers) who want to grow together or work on strategic deals.
Coaches, speakers, and educators who align with mindset, financial literacy, or entrepreneurship.
Brands and businesses looking to create value in the wealth, lifestyle, or empowerment space.
Media outlets, podcasters, and event hosts who want to feature me or partner on speaking engagements, panels, or educational events.
