Meet Siera Capesius

We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Siera Capesius a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Siera, looking forward to learning from your journey. You’ve got an amazing story and before we dive into that, let’s start with an important building block. Where do you get your work ethic from?

My work ethic was shaped at a young age, thanks to the example set by my parents. They taught me the value of hard work, showing up fully, and always doing the best I can, no matter the task. That foundation instilled in me a deep sense of responsibility and pride in everything I do. Beyond that, I’ve always had a strong internal drive and a will that refuses to give in to the weaker side of myself. Even when things get hard, I push forward, knowing that growth and success come from discipline, resilience, and showing up even when it would be easier not to.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?

My professional journey began 15 years ago when I earned my degree in Human Nutrition & Dietetics. Since then, I’ve held various positions in the field of nutrition, which eventually led me to pursue a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certification and become a trainer.

I started my personal training career at a large gym, where I not only honed my sales skills but also learned valuable lessons on what to avoid as a business owner. One major shortcoming of the Big Box gym was its lack of focus on personalized nutrition and genuinely understanding each client beyond just making sales. After a year, I decided to branch out independently.

A year later, I opened my studio, Prolean Personal Training, which specializes in one-on-one personal training and small group personal training. We also provide our clients with homework workouts along with nutrition plans. Our 3D Body scanner is also one of a kind to Colorado, and provides our clients with trackable results. At Prolean, we design programs tailored to everyone’s lifestyle and teach clients how to integrate fitness into their daily routines rather than treating it as a temporary trend. I am proud of how my brand has evolved over the years and is providing amazing results to people.

If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?

The three qualities that have had the biggest impact on my journey are resiliency, education, and surprisingly ignorance. Resiliency has been essential, especially in the face of the countless challenges and setbacks that come with building a business from the ground up. It’s strengthened my mental toughness and taught me that if you’re not prepared, the weight of business ownership can easily break you. Education played a major role as well; I had to teach myself how to build something from nothing. I literally opened my gym by following the steps in a book. While that book didn’t teach me how to run a business (that came through trial and error), it gave me the starting point I needed. And then there’s ignorance. If I had known back then what I know now about what it really takes to run a successful business (the long hours, the stress, the relentless pressure) I might have run in the opposite direction! People often think you’ll work less as a business owner, but the truth is, you work more. Still, I keep going because I love what I do and I know I’m good at it.

What do you do when you feel overwhelmed? Any advice or strategies?

When I start to feel overwhelmed, I’ve learned to pause and ground myself through deep breathing. It’s a simple practice, but it helps me reset and stay centered when things feel chaotic. I’ve also found that reading is one of the most powerful tools for maintaining my mental stability. Whether it’s personal development, business, or something completely unrelated, reading allows me to step outside of my stress, gain perspective, and refocus with a clearer mindset. These small habits have made a big difference in how I handle pressure and stay mentally strong.
