We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Sierra Cobbs a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Sierra, so good to have you with us today. We’ve got so much planned, so let’s jump right into it. We live in such a diverse world, and in many ways the world is getting better and more understanding but it’s far from perfect. There are so many times where folks find themselves in rooms or situations where they are the only ones that look like them – that might mean being the only woman of color in the room or the only person who grew up in a certain environment etc. Can you talk to us about how you’ve managed to thrive even in situations where you were the only one in the room?
Honestly? It used to be a little intimidating, but now I just look at it as a sign that I’m supposed to be there. I’ve learned that if I’m the only one in the room who looks like me, it’s because I’m bringing something to the table that literally nobody else can. I don’t try to ‘code-switch’ or fit a mold anymore. I just show up as my full self, Faithfully Sierra, and let my work and my spirit do the talking. I’ve realized that being the only one isn’t a disadvantage; it’s actually my secret sauce.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
Professionally, I operate as an Author and an Encourager. My brand, Faithfully Sierra, is really all about leading with authenticity and helping people find their voice through faith. What makes this work so special to me is that it is not just about sharing advice. It is about creating a space where people feel empowered to show up as their full selves in every area of their lives. I love that my job is essentially to be the person I needed when I was first starting out.
Right now, I am really focused on the evolution of my brand’s digital presence. I have been working on a new aesthetic approach for my content that feels more intentional and reflective of the peace I want to share with my audience. Beyond the visuals, I am deep in the process of drafting new projects that focus on home as a sanctuary and living with purpose. It is a season of expansion for me, and I am excited to keep showing my community how to build a life that feels as good as it looks.
If you had to pick three qualities that are most important to develop, which three would you say matter most?
Looking back at my journey with Faithfully Sierra, I would say the three things that have made the biggest difference are authenticity, intentionality, and a commitment to the “hidden” work.
First, authenticity has been everything. I spent a long time thinking I had to fit a certain mold to be successful, but I eventually realized that my unique voice is my greatest asset. People don’t want a carbon copy of someone else; they want the real you. My advice for anyone starting out is to stop looking at what everyone else is doing and start leaning into what makes you different. Your perspective is what will actually set you apart.
Second is intentionality. This shows up in how I pray over my home and how I curate my brand. I’ve learned that when you have a clear “why” behind your actions, you don’t get as easily distracted by the noise. If you are early in your journey, I suggest getting very clear on your purpose. Write it down and keep it somewhere you can see it. When you know your mission, every “no” becomes easier to handle and every “yes” becomes more meaningful.
Third is a commitment to the hidden work. As an Author and Encourager, a lot of what I do happens behind the scenes. It is the hours spent writing, praying, and reflecting that actually fuel the content people see. My advice here is to fall in love with the process, not just the results. Focus on becoming the person who can handle the success you’re praying for. Build your foundation in private so that you can stand firm when you’re finally in those rooms you’ve dreamed of.

How can folks who want to work with you connect?
I am definitely looking to partner and collaborate with people who are on a similar mission. As an Author and Encourager, I really value working with those who are authentic and intentional about what they put out into the world. I would love to connect with other creatives, faith-based brands, or even people in the home and lifestyle space who understand the importance of making life and home feel like a sanctuary.
If you feel like our vibes align and you want to create something that truly impacts people, I would love to hear from you.
