We recently connected with Sierra L. Boone and have shared our conversation below.
Sierra L., first a big thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and insights with us today. I’m sure many of our readers will benefit from your wisdom, and one of the areas where we think your insight might be most helpful is related to imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is holding so many people back from reaching their true and highest potential and so we’d love to hear about your journey and how you overcame imposter syndrome.
Reading and memes!
Whenever I start to feel like I’m not good enough to be doing what I’m doing, I crack open a book that’s helped me so much on my children’s media journey. It’s titled “Sunny Days,” by David Kamp.
The book details the very beginning of the nostalgic shows many of us know and love — Sesame Street, Mister Rogers, etc. I read about how Mister Rogers started his show in his early twenties, with a few puppets, a friend and a local audience. Plus? Tons of passion to help kids.
Ultimately, it all reminds me of the saying “no one really knows what they’re doing.” It’s true! Even self-proclaimed “experts” are figuring things out day by day. These things help me remember to give myself grace and focus on the fact that what I’m doing is bigger than me.

Thanks, so before we move on maybe you can share a bit more about yourself?
I am the Executive Producer of Boone Productions, a family-owned and operated children’s television production company and home of The Nap Time Show!
At Boone Productions, we’re all about using storytelling to bridge the generational divide and foster stronger families and communities. The Nap Time Show, which is our premier IP, focuses on developing a positive relationship between children and rest.
The Nap Time Show features live-action, animation and puppetry to cater to the unique developmental needs of children, with stories and songs promoting social-emotional learning skills that kids need to succeed in life.
❌ Rest isn’t just about being quiet.
✅ Rather, it’s about enjoying life to the fullest. It helps us appreciate the little moments, strengthens our relationships with ourselves and others, and connects us to the world in a deeper, more meaningful way.
The Nap Time Show celebrates these moments, teaching kids and parents alike that slowing down and resting isn’t a hurdle to fun, it’s the path to enjoying every wonderful part of life even more.

There is so much advice out there about all the different skills and qualities folks need to develop in order to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment and often it can feel overwhelming. So, if we had to break it down to just the three that matter most, which three skills or qualities would you focus on?
1. Vision: There’s a saying that goes “You’ve got to be able to see it before you see it.” And the truth is, when you’re building something that is the first of its kind, there won’t be many tangible examples to go off of. You’ll be building a lot of it from the vision in your mind’s eye. It’s your vision that will help you see phase 25 when you’re just on phase 2. Which leads me to my next point…
2. Discernment: You can’t expect everyone to see or understand the vision! Needing external validation for something you intuitively know within is a surefire ticket for failure, chaos…just don’t do it! Now yes, getting the opinions of others is super important so that you don’t build something in a bubble, but they should be folks who see the vision. Being able to tell the difference will be key to your “big idea” not fizzling out before it even had the chance to become something. And last, but definitely not least…
3. Find YOUR people! This is related to discernment, because you’ll need it to understand what makes people *your* people. But this is so crucial! We already know what having the wrong people around can do, but I don’t think we talk enough about what having the right people around can do! Think about the enhanced ideas, execution strategies, talents, experiences, conversations, EVERYTHING you’ll be able to witness with positive collaboration. You are not an island (though I know sometimes it may feel that way). Find your people and thrive together!

One of our goals is to help like-minded folks with similar goals connect and so before we go we want to ask if you are looking to partner or collab with others – and if so, what would make the ideal collaborator or partner?
We are always looking for more partnerships! ‘Together’ is always the best route to anywhere you’d like to go.
Specifically, I’d love to connect with folks at networks (especially focusing of positive family content!), visual artists like illustrators and animators, anyone who would be interested in writing a future episode of The Nap Time Show, folks who work in the beverage industry, and any creatives who love what we’re doing, see the vision, and want to join the mission!
